I drearily open my eyes… is this heaven? I sit up.
"Ouch!"
"You're awake?" King says, closing his book.
"I-i'm not dead?"
He laughs, "You honestly think a poison arrow will be able to bring you down?"
I laugh too, "Ah, right the mutation…"
I sigh.
"So, where are we?"
"This is Trisha's house."
"Trisha?" I panic, "Why would she let us in? Isn't she mad at me for being a red eye and lying to her?"
"I'm not mad."
It was Trisha. She had a sad smile on her face.
"Y-you're not?"
"No…" she smiles, "I'm just a bit disappointed that you didn't visit me after."
"O-oh sorry…how's Veronica?"
"Honestly, she could care less. You know how she is."
We both laugh. Veronica honestly could care less for almost anything except her restaurant.
" So you're not mad? Both Kyle and I are red eyes… you're not scared?"
"You guys are still my precious friends, no matter what species you are! You could be a dragon for all I could care!"
She giggles and brings out her signature stew and serves a bowl for King and I.
I smile, "Thanks!"
I dig into the amazing food and heal the rest of my body with my magic.
"King, are you hurt too?"
"Just at my arm over here."
"King?"Trisha asks.
I explain quickly as I heal King's arm, "I found out that Kyle's a childhood friend of mine. His real name is King."
She puts her hands together, "Oh!"
Then she smirks, "Are you two lovers?"
My face turns beet red before I can control myself.
"N-no! Not at all!"
"Oh? Hehe-"
My face turns even redder, I could feel it burning hot. Suddenly, a super strong gust of wind comes charging at me and cools my face down.
King yells while using his magic, "You're gonna catch a fever if your face gets any hotter."
I start chasing him, "You little @#$%^&*!"
"Oh? You said her face is hottt!" Trisha smirks.
King's face turns red and he starts chasing her. So it was a literal game where I chase King, King chases Trisha and yeah…
We ran until we exhausted ourselves, laughing.
The next day, Veronica comes over,
"Yo, you guys okay?"
"Hi, Veronica!" Trisha greets her happily.
"U-um Veronica, I'm sorry I lied to you…"
She smiles, "It's fine."
"Well if you told me you were the King, then we could have used your name to get famous!"she jokes around and we laugh together.
Suddenly, a shower of papers fall from the sky.
"We mourn for King Astraea, for he was murdered by an assassin. The new King has been decided by the aristocratic council. It is the Water Serpent Knight, Dylan! The coronation will be held tomorrow."
