Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Precarious Position

We finished the shopping as we went from shop to shop to get everything. Then, it was almost noon and we walked to Trisha's house. The problem was the entourage.

"Hey, how long are they going to follow us?"I say annoyed.

"Uh…" Ryan stammers awkwardly.

"Can we go back to the palace to change into disguises?" Justin asks quickly.

"Yes, meet us back here at noon please."

They head off. Was I sort of commanding them when I said those stuff? I hope they don't catch that.

"Anyways, Trisha, let me help with the laundry."

After about half an hour later, Trisha had cooled down, and the four knights came back. Trisha was almost done with the cooking, and I morally supported her.

"Heyooo!!! We're back!" Justin screams from 10 meters away.

I smile fakely and wave. Ugh! They're back. Can I leave and watch from the side? I sigh. I just wanted to watch the 'show' and eat popcorn, but I'm dragged into this mess too! I smell a scent coming from the pot that Trisha's boiling.

"Ahhh∼ that smells good!"

Ryan walks right up to Trisha and the pot. Trisha turns the fire off and puts the pot on an empty table outside.

"Let's eat!"

My mouth drools as we set food in our bowls and eat. It's Trisha's signature dish and it's amazing!

"Wow! This is delicious!" Dylan says, the moment the meat melted in his mouth, "It's so tender!"

Justin talks with his mouth full, "You would definitely pass for a royal cook!"

"Mmmmm!"

"Ahahah, it's fine, I'm happy with my job for now."

Trisha intriguingly asks about the four knights' adventures, and I listen on.

"So there's that one where we ended up at the Multicolored Volcano and the only element of magic that worked was wind because it didn't have any color!"

"Yeah, so we had to have Kyle use up almost all his magic to carry us out."

I glance and see Kyle frowning, recalling the horrible memory. Must've been exhausting.

Then, Ryan asks a disturbing question for me, "So, what magic do you guys use?"

Trisha responds first, "I use String magic. It allows me to sew quickly which is why I'm a seamstress."

"Wow! Can you demonstrate?"Justin asks curiously.

I sulk a bit. Demonstrate? Then I can't lie! The King's magic is registered as my real magic!

Trisha uses her magic to levitate a bunch of strings and in minutes, she finishes a handkerchief.

She shyly passes it to Ryan, "This is for you."

Ryan looks at her and smiles, "Thank you!"

She brightens up and starts fangirling in her mind.

Then she peeks over at me, "By the way, Aurora, I don't think you've ever told me your magic."

I stammer, "Oh, uh, it's healing magic."

That was partly true, since it's a category of my magic. Then I realize, wait now I won't have to demonstrate because none of them are hurt! I smile secretly.

Trisha looks at me in awe, "Whoa, that's amazing magic!"

Dylan also comments, "That's like the King's magic."

He sounded like he was suspicious of me, so I glanced at him warily.

Before anyone could make conspiracy theories, I pretended to look at the time.

"Oh! I need to go for my afternoon shift now! I'll see you guys later!"

Trisha pouts, "Awww! But it's such a special day!"

I wave goodbye and walk away. Finally, I'm away from them. I head back to the palace.

I walk swiftly to my room to find an aristocrat waiting.

He kneels, "Your majesty."

I gaze down at him, "What do you want?"

"Well, the elders have been discussing that since your majesty is already of age, we should have you engaged."

It was THAT plan that I overheard.

"An arranged marriage, right? Would that make me have to step down from my position as King and hand it over to a male?"I state sharply.

He starts sweating, "It's only a suggestion. Your majesty should think it over."

"Dismissed."

The nerve of them! Of course they were going to get me to be engaged with one of their aristocrats or a person they support and have them take over the position as King. Then they'll probably exile or kill me.
