Chapter 54 - So Good!

"If I had a smart phone I could have G***led the recipe... sigh, who am I kidding they don't even have the internet here." Calder moaned as he slumped forward on to his desk. He then stretched himself out and placed his left cheek on top of the documents. "I need sweet-s." He groaned loudly. "I have them already." Rutley announced proudly as he walked into the study.

"Oh my G*d ye-s-s-s-s!" Calder said as he stretched out his arms and grasped air with his hands. Rutley looked at Calder with an exhausted expression. "Unbelievable..." Rutley grumbled. "Is it though? I see sweets and used all my brain power on work. I don't want to get up either, please bring me a strawberry tart?" Calder asked as he looked at Rutley pitifully, refusing to lift his head from his desk.

Rutley turned green as he looked at Calder. "No!" He then shouted. "Get off your a** and come over here and properly have your snack! Your brother baby's you enough as it is! Like hell I will put up with your twisted personality!" Rutley yelled at the top of his lungs as he pointed to a spot on the couch. Calder's eyes started to water as his lips trembled.

"Bleck! Don't look at me like that!" Rutley spat as he cringed. "You're so mean." Calder pouted. "No I am just trying to make you don't become so damn lazy!" Rutley shouted. "I'm not lazy..." Calder pouted. "Prove it and come get your snack." Rutley said as he glared at Calder. "F-i-n-e." Calder said with a heavy sigh.

He then dramatically dragged his body off the desk and groaned as he stood up from the chair then zombie walked towards the couch. "Other people get to get what they want." Calder grumbled as he sat down on the couch. "Like who?! And don't you dare say your brother!" Rutley shouted furiously. Calder just gave Rutley a deadpan stare then moved to get his tart. He took one bite into it and was instantly revived.

"This is sooo goooood!" He cried before he took another bite. "It better be. Nanna Gi specially made them today. I had to use a small trick to get a winning lottery ticket so we could have some." Rutley said as he grab himself a tart. "Nanna Gi.... Nanna Gi... Cheese and rice! Nanna Gi is here today?!" Calder shouted as he stood up.

Calder stood a fair distance away from where Syria sat having her afternoon tea. He watched her quietly lift up her tea cup and place it gently against her lips. He licked his own lips as temptation started to rise. He took a deep breathe in and started walking forward. "Syria?" He called out with a slightly shakey voice. Syria moved her gaze to Calder and he couldn't help but blush.

"Yes?" She replied a she batted her long eyelashes. Calder opened his mouth but no words came out. He wasn't expecting her to sound so sweet and inviting. His heart ached as guilt gnawed at his heart strings. He shouldn't have jumped to conclusions earlier. "C-can I s-sit?" He stuttered as his face flushed further. Syria's eyes widened as she witnessed his nervousness. "Of course!" She laughed as she swept her and to the seat across from her.

Calder sat down at the seat awkwardly and looked around. "Are you alone?" Calder asked while Syria stared openly at him. "I like it that way." She replied with a small smile. Calder nodded his head. He recalled the last few times he saw her, Syria was without her lady in waiting. Syria sighed then moved to pour Calder a cup of tea. "No." He said loudly as she grabbed the cozy off of the tea kettle.

"Sorry?" Syria asked in confusion. "I can pour my own tea... I already dropped in uninvited so it's the least I can do." Calder said as he reached for the tea pot and elegantly poured himself some tea. Syria watched in bewilderment as he did and absentmindedly put down the cozy. "You can pour your own tea?" She asked as she watched Calder take a sip. "I'm allowed too." Calder said with a small smirk, his confidence was slowly starting to rise.

Syria went quiet then grabbed a cookie. She broke the cookie into smaller pieces and placed it on her plate. "You don't have to act like a typical lady in front of me you know." Calder said softly as he watched her gently dust off her hands. "What do you mean?" Lady Syria asked bitterly. Calder swallowed hard then hoped his facial expression softened.

"You don't have to take bird like bites in front of me. I know you do when we're having breakfast and dinner together because of... of the eyes watching but out here, when it's just, j-just the t-two of us you don't have too. So please eat without reservation." Calder said sincerely as he blushed. He then picked out the biggest cookie and held it out for Syria to grab.

Syria looked at the cookie and bit her lower lip, Calder shuddered at the small act and wished he could watch her debate for little while longer. Syria cautiously took the cookie from his hand and then brought it to her mouth. She hesitated again, she then looked at Calder and blushed. He was watching her with the gentlest eyes. "Go on. It's okay." He whispered as a smile spread across his face.

Syria gulped and then opened her mouth. She took one massive bite as she clutched her eyes. A giant smile spread across her face as she chewed. Calder let out a small chuckle as he grabbed himself a cookie. Syria continued to eat, not caring how she looked as Calder looked unbelievably happy.

"Why did you come to see me?" Syria asked the moment she finished off her cookie. Calder froze, he completely forgot what he had come to do and just enjoyed the moment. "I wanted to ask you something." Calder said as he brought his tea cup to his lips again. "Oh?" Lady Syria said as she stared at Calder.
