"Hello, can you hear me?" the voice slithered around inside Ace's mind, it was an unwelcomed guest, taking root in the farthest region of his brain. "Ah, I can sense you do, there you are. Come out to play Master." The voice beckoned from the shadows. It was a chilling tone, most like what you would watch in a horror movie, you would be sitting on your couch yelling at your screen. "Don't do it, run, go the other way." It was a black and white shit show inside of Ace's conscious at that moment, he could sense himself about to take that plunge, meet that slippery little character. The voice in his head that he always blocked out, put in a teeny tinny cage in the very blackest of pits, and then threw away the key. It had finally escaped, dislodged itself from its confines and now it wanted to play, it was dangerous. One of the main reasons that Ace had only used his powers a handful of times, letting out his hidden monster had always proven catastrophic every time before, and took a lot of time to confine. It had been too long since the last time he had been freed, the damage that was to come from him now, it was unimaginable, and Ace had no one to blame but himself.
If he had just given over to the dark side completely and owned to what he was, then maybe he would have better control over it now, as that was it matter little at this moment. His monster felt neglected, what happens to children when they feel unwanted and unloved? They usually find a way to act out, make their parents give them attention, good or bad. It was cold in the dark essence of Ace's mind, he had not been to that place, since he was a small child. "You know this is not what I want." Ace called out, his voice carried out around him, echoing off the sides of his skull.
"shhhh master, you hurt yourself," came the silky reply, sinister in its hushed tone.
Ace gritted his teeth, "Loki, come out." He commanded. There was a skitter across the floor, looking down Ace took in the sludge rising against his legs, he was sinking in a brain vomit of his own creation.
"You always lock Loki away, you never play with him anymore, Loki just wants to help." The sludge bubbled around him, heating, it was starting to boil him in it.
"Loki, I have someone I need to protect, I need to get back to her. Let me out of here, now." He tried in his best Alpha voice.
There was distinct snicker, "You like her more than me, yet when you called upon me, I came. I saved her." The beast wined. "I aim but to please you Master." Loki's voice faded slowly, it was coming at a distance now, and Ace covered his eyes to the brightness that filled up the space in his head. With an alarming force, Ace opened his eyes, he was still cocooned inside his makeshift dome. With a wave of his hand the mass fell away and with it his power to stay hovering above the ground. Trees rushed by on his decent from the sky, he was helpless to do much more than hope that he would heal quickly from the impact once he landed, his leg was wounded and was useless. Letting out a grunt, Ace felt himself being tackled from the side, throwing him into a snowbank. Opening his eyes, he seen Alex's wolf beside him, her keen eyes watching him intently.
With a dry laugh, Ace let his head fall backwards into the softness of the snow around him, "Quite a direction this little escapade took." He said on a sigh.
A whirl of ice and wind suddenly transformed in front of them, it was like a small tornado, and Ace sat up slightly. Damen finally decided to show up after all, "Couldn't have been a few minutes sooner? What did you do, take the scenic route?" Ace asked rolling his eyes.
Damen walked over to them only to have Alex jump in front of Ace, she barred her teeth, letting loose a very territorial growl. Surprise shot through Ace at the action, his little Mate was trying to defend him from what she thought was a dangerous stranger. A weird emotion ran along his nerves, pride, and something else. Shaking his head, he would save that thought for another time to analyze.
"Its okay little wolf, I am here to help." Damen tried saying in a soothing voice. Alex was not having it and let out a warning snap. Damen stopped walking and gave Ace a look, "Get your woman, so I can help you."
Ace shrugged his shoulder a little but reached out a hand to touch Alex's side, sinking his fingers into her fur, it was the softest thing he had ever touched in his life. Warmth spread throughout his body from that single touch and he was momentarily stunned. Alex looked back at him, her eyes slightly dilated, and Ace knew with a damning sense that his little Mate was going into heat.
"Fuck me, Damen you have got to leave now." Ace stated, his voice had dropped a degree.
Damen stopped in his tracks and stiffened, Alex's sent must have fluttered in the air, the other Alpha starred at them long and hard. Every instinct in an Alpha's body urged them to find the wolf in heat and rut her, it was basic nature. The fact that Alex had not fully been claimed yet was a problem and Damen's wolf smelt nothing but a willing unmated female in his path. Taking a deep breath, Ace stood up the best he could, his own Wolf stirred making his healing process quicker. The hole in his leg was sealed and his wolf was itching at the surface ready to defend what was his and claim his prize.
"Shit." Damen mustered raking a hand through his hair, in a spin so quick it almost knocked Alex over, Damen spun out of the area as fast as he could.
"You sure know how to pick the perfect time for this," Ace cursed softly. They were out in the middle of the woods, the enemy still at large, and there was his brave little mate letting off an aroma that would soon send hundreds of wolves sniffing after her. What else could go wrong?
