Ace had whirled them into the safety of his bedroom, it spun around her, making her ill. Taking a deep breath, she pushed away from his arms and slunk to the ground. What a way to travel, why did he not do that all the time, it would make things so much faster. The familiar scent of cinnamon and spice greeted her, and she shivered at the comfort she immediately found, being surrounded by the intimate setting of Ace's things. "Gods, that was intense." She let out. Finding the strength to stand up, she walked over to his bed and grabbed the blanket that he had sheltered her with at the Claiming Ceremony. Holding it up to her nose she breathed in the smell of it deeply, wrapping it around her naked body, she felt cocooned in warmth. Opening her eyes, she found Ace was watching her intensely, she bit her bottom lip, "Why are you starring at me?" she asked, her skin prickling slightly at the way his eyes took her in. It felt as if he were starring straight into her soul and it was terrifying to think that he could actually see it.
Clearing his throat, he shifted awkwardly, that is when she took in his nakedness, the swirl of his inked skin. The way his muscles seemed to tense, at her administration of his body, and the flex of his abdomen as her eyes dared to go lower. "Are you feeling alright?" he asked gruffly.
Alex shook her head, "I should be asking you that, after everything that happened." She shrugged her shoulders and walked over to stand in front of him, raising her hand she pressed it to his chest, "Are you alright?" the question was asked on a soft note, her voice unwilling to register any higher.
Ace was quiet a moment and Alex suddenly lost her nerve and went to remove her hand. Ace reached up and pressed his hand on top of hers, stopping her retraction. "As long as you are, then I am." He stated.
Looking up at those haunting violet eyes, she found her mouth slightly parted, her breathing becoming slightly erratic. This amazing, aloof, arrogant, smug Alpha Lord was being strangely sweet. It was the first time that she had actually felt the stir of emotion from him, that did not border on insufferable. Maybe it was because they both had almost died or maybe it was something else entirely but at that moment all Alex wanted to do was kiss him. Leaning up on her tip toes Alex's mouth was a breath away from Ace's, she mentally dared him to meet her the rest of the way, desperately wanted it more than anything she had ever wanted in her life at that moment. Ace's free hand slipped up the back of her neck, and tangled in her wild hair, gripping it he pulled her head back farther. Alex moaned in surprise and looked up at him with heavy lidded eyes, Ace's gaze was borderline predatory now. "You are too sexy to resist." He stated huskily.
"Please," she begged in a voice that did not sound like her own. Was she possessed? Her wolf was purring so loud, she was drowning in it, all she wanted was the feel of Ace's body against her own. The heat, the sweat, the taste of him…she wanted it all.
"Lord Ryker." There was a pounding at the door and Ace stiffened at the interruption.
Pressing his forehead against Alex's, Ace let go of her, and backed away. Walking over to his drawers he dressed in haste and then walked over to the door, "What's to report?" he asked once again in control.
Alex pressed the blanket closer to her body as she listened to the interaction of the two males, curious as to what was going on.
"Alpha Damen has instructed me to tell you that the soothsayer has retreated, that he and Rachel are on the search and that they will contact you when they have found anything."
Ace nodded, "Thank you." He stated and shut the door in the mans face without another word. Running his hands through his hair, Ace was cursing softy to himself.
Biting her lip Alex watched him not really knowing what to say. What could she say to him? The mans Kingdome had been under attack and he had been out in the forest chasing her when he should have been here. It was her fault that he was distracted, and she felt horrible for it. They were supposed to have a serious conversation and she got scared and had ran from him. Alex was too immature for the role as Alpha's mate, she could not be his Luna, she unfit and uneducated. Ace needed a mate that understood his life, understood her role, that was not her. The knowledge that she was not right for him hurt, her heart cried silently, and she repressed the tears she wished to shed. She would have to leave with or without his blessing. There was no way around it. Deal or no deal, she could not stay here and endanger Ace and his people any longer. Alex was sure that she could return home now, her village was safe, and her siblings needed her. The Alpha Lord would not miss her once she was gone if anything, he would probably be relieved to no longer had to deal with her.
