Stay here Alexis, yeah right, since when had she ever done what she was told? The only thing she did not know for sure was whether she was going to follow Ace or escape and return home. The kiss on the forehead had sent chills straight to her heart, it melted her core, and made her swoon slightly. Why did he have to go and do that? Always something with that insufferable man. One minute he is the biggest jackass she had ever met and then like a switch he would flip and do something so completely charming it threw her for a loop. Fairly sure she had whip lash from the hot and cold that Ace Ryker was putting out there. Alex had given her word, not only to her family but also to Ace, to stay and be his Mate till he was done with her. That seemed to be getting harder and harder as time went. It had only been a span of a few days and already his enemies had found out he had a weakness and were not planning on using her to get to him. Was it fair to stay here knowing that she was the only reason that his enemies thought they had an advantage?
Walking over to Ace's dresser she pulled out one of his crisp black dress shirts and absently sniffed the collar. Leaving now seemed like the best option. Ace would be too preoccupied with everything else going on, he would not even notice that she had left, till it was too late. It was not like he knew where she lived at, hardly anyone did, her house being on the very outskirts of the Beta village. Alex's parents had taken precautionary measures, their fear of the Alpha's had seemed completely ridiculous at the time, seeing as the Alpha's were supposed to take care of them. Now though, Alex was thankful for the fact that her parents had been so paranoid, it would make sneaking home that much easier. Would Ace be mad when he found out that she had left, would he even try finding her? Shaking her head at the thought she slung her head forward and twisted her head into a bun. Containing her fragrance would be hard, since her and Ace had not yet consummated their mating, it sent out the signal to others that she was available. That was the last thing that she wanted, unwilling advances from Alpha brutes that would not take no for an answer.
Buttoning up the shirt, Alex looked around the room, what would be the best way to get out of here? She could always go down the balcony or risk trying to find her way through the endless rooms of this huge manor. Rolling her eyes, Alex let out a sigh, well it looked like her mind was made up for her. Opening the doors to the outside, quietly she slipped outside, the moon was high in the air. The perfume of roses flittered across the air and Alex took a deep breath. A piece of her heart was breaking slowly, why would she miss a place that was never really hers to call home to begin with? A man that did not belong to her and a home that would never truly feel like a home. There was nothing to be getting so emotional about, if she stayed here, she would be used as a breeder. Pop out a few pups, if she did not cause Ace to die in the process, being someone's vulnerability was not the way she wanted to feel.
"Miss Darling, the Master wanted me to bring you some clean clothes." Miss Fanny's voice broke the silence of the night.
Alex gritted her teeth and hopped onto the banister, looking down she held her breath, it was a long ass drop down. She had forgot all about Miss Fanny coming by, that would not leave her a lot of time to get out of here, the old woman would alert Ace to her disappearance. Squatting she turned herself around and gently put her feet over the railing first, before hanging there. Alex's fingers bit into the stone as she tried calming her beating heart, there was no other way down, she needed to let go. Relaxing her limbs, the best she could, she prepared for the impact of the ground beneath her, straining her muscles would just make it hurt a lot worse. The cool night breeze caressed her naked legs and with a deep held breath, Alex forced her fingers loose. Is there really such a thing as preparing to fall to one's death? Because as soon as her grip loosened, Alex found herself falling, and immediately her hands frantically scratched against the stone of the walls as she fell. The front of her body sliding against the rough granite, scraping her exposed skin, her nails tearing as they fought to find any slight friction. Flashes of Ace's disappointed face flashed in her mind, then her families, at her cowardness. At that thought her irritation spurred on her wolfs power and the nails on her finger elongated into claws, digging into the side of the manor, and slowing her decent. When she came to a stop against the wall, she was still high enough off the ground, that her bare feet still hung in the air. Pressing her forehead to the cool stone, she released the breath she had been holding. Turning to look over her shoulder she spied a nearby bush, if she could push off from the wall, then maybe she could break her landing. It would not be much, but it would have to feel better than just straight landing on the ground. With all the remaining power she could muster, Alex barred her teeth, and pushed off the wall. Flaying through the air, her back contacted branches and knocked the air from her lungs. Laying there for what seemed like an eternity, Alex gathered her wits about her, nothing seemed to be broken. There was some bruising around her ribs, and it hurt like hell to breath. One side of her face had gotten the brunt of her failed scaling effort, and her legs looked like they had been mangled, nothing that would not heal eventually.
Forcing herself to sit up, she winced at the pressure it put on her tailbone, standing hurt worse but she had to move. There was no time to sit and dawdle, she needed to get the hell out of there, first thing was first. Alex needed to find some mud to roll around in, the thought of getting a thick layer of dirt in her cuts did not sound pleasant, but neither did getting caught after all the hard work she had just put into escaping. With a heavy heart and bruised body, Alex slunk around the courtyard, finding her route to freedom.
