Chapter 7 - 10,000 years

Peering through the mist that suddenly surrounded them, she felt an odd feeling surge through her. 'What is this? Hmm I think I need to walk away from them while they sleep. I don't want whatever this is to harm them.'

After making sure they were still sound asleep she tip-toed out of the save they had found earlier, unaware of the pair of eyes silently following her in the dark.

She knew they wanted to protect her, but why? She was nothing special. She is obviously not the only one that can cast magic, she has no family, no background to speak of, she also wasn't so weak she couldn't handle herself, so why the heck did these strange fellows want to follow and protect her? A family of three stealthily maneuvered through the dense trees. Moving as quickly as possible they knew they had to find shelter soon, the woman was heavily pregnant and it was not safe in the forest to deliver. After being chased from their home by a gang of thugs intent on ending their lives, they had no choice but to run and hide.

Among the belongings they managed to take with them, a small jade pendant in the shape of a unicorn strung on a slender gold chain, laid gently on the woman's neck. This pendant radiated magical energy, it was an ancient heirloom passed down to the leaders of their clan throughout the generations. This
