Abandoned shack - 1 day ago
Looking down at the sword in his hand, Varick made a decision, 'well if i'm stuck here… I might as well go all out… I did take a little MMA at the 'Y'...' Steadying his hands upon the hilt, he focused all of his attention on the girl slowly stalking him from the couch.
"You aren't planning on doing this indoors are you?" Ruishi raised an eyebrow at the two… 'honestly this is still my house!'
Shou nodded and waltz right out the back door. Looking back at the overly focused youth, "Let's go, follow me."
Shaking his head, Varick followed wondering if he could really do this.
He is just a city kid!
Why the heck is everything decided by a fight like in anime?
An hour flew by and the sounds of swords clashing and heavy breathing was still resounding the small area.
'Clang!'
They locked swords again for the millionth time. Varick quickly swung his leg in an upward arc and came crashing down towards Shou's shoulder. Shou dodged but not fast enough as his heel clipped her shoulder sending another intense wave of pain. Before she could recover, Varick brought the sword down again in a powerful strike toward her head, just when she was about to counter, he reversed direction and brought the hilt directly to her stomach, effectively making her double over. Varick then sent a side kick and knocked her down, taking this opportunity he lunged at her and pinned her down in a headlock. Shou had no choice but to admit defeat.
'Damn… how is this kid so skilled?'
While Shou and Ruishi are trying to figure out what just happened… Varick is still staring at his hands as if that just didn't happen! Where the heck did all this ability come from? He has never even held a sword before let alone fought at expert anything level outside a video game!
This can't possibly be happening… could it?
That chick looked totally capable! What did I just do!?
Standing in a dazed state, the sword slowly slipped from his grip and clanged onto the floor, the sound snapped the trio back into reality.
"Well… well… well… looks like you are the fated one. Welp like it or not kid your coming with us!"
Shou let her face show a sly grin as she hurriedly finished packing adding more to accommodate the new kid. She knows he has nothing, 'maybe we should visit the old man and get him a proper weapon before we head off?' Just as she thought this, Ruishi popped up, "Hey! Shou! Get that kid a weapon from the old man, make it fast!"
"Ugh… Shishi… I am not your dog…"
"No your a sly cat so hurry it up!"
"Tsk… you don't leave this house for 25 years and suddenly im the go-fer?" She mumbled under her breath.
"Now!!!!"
"I'm going! Go curl around a tree!" Shou should have lost her teeth by now at how furiously she was grinding her teeth at this point.
"Oi! Kid… you're coming too let's go!"
'Tsk, if I have to go he does, besides, it's for him anyways and that old coot makes everything custom!'
Hopping onto Shou's bike, they sped off to the old man weapon maker. After 30 mins of zooming in and out of traffic, Shou was impressed the kid didn't scream, not even once. almost everyone freaks out when she's the driver. Shrugging it off, they entered the weapon shop.
"Hey, old man, got a job!"
"Shou, you damn brat! I can hear just fin… um, Shou why did you bring an alter worlder here? You know they can't sync with our magic." The old man scrutinized the youth in front of him.
"He can, he synced with my personal sword, did you not tell me that was custom to me? Why the heck can this kid not only wield it but kick my butt in the process?" She gave the old man cute pouty eyes as if he wronged her in a thousand lives.
"That is not possible!" His eyes grew wide staring at this new person…
'How can and alter worlder be able to carry a weapon made for someone else!? That's not possible!' He bewilderingly stared at the kid.
He took Varick's hands and guided him to the back. Inside this room there were various colored stones, potions, herbs, raw materials, glowing materials, and animal parts. The forge was gigantic! You could feel the radiating heat radiating off of it. Hilts and other weapon bases could be seen.
First the old man guided him to a counter that held various types of… testing equipment?
What the heck does a weaponsmith need human testing equipment for?
After a series of tests, the old man got to work! He started with mixing the raw materials, a purple stone, a glowing material that looked like it was glowing the color of gold, a healing potion, two types of herbs, and a fragment of a unicorns horn. After mixing them together and heating it all up he poured the mox into a sword mould he created a century ago. 'If I'm going to make it I am going to make it work!'
1 hour later, Varick had a new weapon linked to him alone! The length wasn't very long. It had a very slight curve to it, it oozed a light purple energy, instead of the standard edge on one side it was double edged. When Varick held it he could feel the bruises Shou inflicted start to heal. Yes this weapon had a healing effect! The hilt was carved beautifully, it had a natural grip inset and the butt held an image of a unicorn. The old man asked him to go out back to the training grounds to test it out. Walking back he was astounded!
"Um.. hey old man… what does the purple energy do?"
"Teehee… you shall see my boy!" The old man slyly sniggered at him.
Shrugging that off, he actually felt excited to try this new blade out. Standing in the midst of the training ground he saw all sorts of equipment, some were slashed, scorched, had huge holes through them, and some even had magical effects still lingering around the 'wounds'. Without further ado, Varick walked up to one of the dummies placed around the area and took his stance.
'Swish!'
With a forceful slash downward he cut into the poor dummie, purple lightning shot out in a beautiful arc and came crashing down along with the blade.
'Boom!'
Well that dummie disappeared rather quickly! All that remained aside a stunned Varick and audience, was a smouldering pile of ash.
"We'll take it!!!" Shou excitedly said with the biggest grin plastered on her face.
