Chapter 3 - Influx

"Ahh…"

"No.. don't come near!!!"

"What do you want?"

A group of men stalked forward on the tiny family… murderously glaring at each of them. Put if the pocket of the smallest member of that group, fell a paper with the image of each member of the family standing in front of them along with a small description of each. The order called for their deaths after the woman gave birth.

With special nets held in hand that were imbued with magic, the men captured the mother and father. Before they could grab the son a large tree suddenly fell between them. The five year old boy being separated, he ran as fast as he could away from that group, tears staining his face, he lamented his inability to not save his parents, he was simply too weak and small.

'I need to find help!'

'Why can't I protect them?'

At this moment after he ran deeper into the forest, the boy was struck by an object and lost consciousness. Carried far from this place, by the time the boy woke up he noted the strange surroundings. 'What is this place? Did I die? Who am I?'

'Tick'

'Tock'

'Tick'

In this isolated room the only sounds that could be heard were incessant ticking of a clock. A young man was intently focused on the computer screen, three dots were shown on a large map, as he focused on this map he noticed that one of the three dots started moving far away from the other two. Tilting his head to the side, he rubbed his chin in deep thought.

'Why would there be that color dot on this game map?'

'Slam!'

The door burst open sending the young man into half a heart attack!

"Dude! Seriously what the heck are you doing barging in here like that!? You almost killed me man what is the problem!?" The young man screeched.

"Bro, there's a wave influx!!! Do you know what this means!?" A man in a lab coat excitedly yelled.

Scratching the back of his head he stared at his friend like he just went mad. "No, not really… and what does it have to do with me?" The young man questioned.

Slamming his hand on the desk, spilling coffee all over the place, sending the young man into a panic to save his precious computer as he glared at his friend. "Bro… c'mon you know I have been working on this for years! We can finally track it! With this influx we can travel to alternate realities! You promised you would test it for me if I could prove it exists!!! Look… the data it's right here!!" The man in the lab coat coaxed his friend.

"Ugh.." The young man pinched the space between his brows.

"You know I only said that to shut you up! Is this even accurate?" Shaking his head in disbelief at his friend.

"Let's go!" The man in the lab coat grabbed his friend's arm.

"Wai…"

"Nope, no excuses we are going now!" He interrupted his friend.

The car stopped outside an abandoned shack in the forest near the city. It appeared as if this shack had not seen a human presence in a few centuries or more. Stepping inside, there wasn't much to the place. As the scanned around they chanced upon the only clean object in the room, a golden tea cup. Once the young man took hold of the cup a blinding light began to emit throughout the room...

'Swoosh!'

A bright light began to shine throughout the room where Ruishi and Shou had been sitting a bit before they began to make preparations. Sensing intruders Ruishi went on alert while waiting to see who dared to crash into his home.

"Ahh!"

"Bam!"

The young man vehemently slammed onto the white marble floor face first, groaning in agony at having his whole body tossed around like a pinata, the young man dazedly looked around. When he spotted a man and a woman staring at him with swords drawn, he snapped out of his confused state at lightning speed, he shot up like a rocket to quickly explain himself.

"Hi! My name is Varick Moon, look I think there's been a mistake. I grabbed a golden tea cup and somehow I ended up here!" He quickly explained.

Ruishi and Shou looked at each other then back at the young man, placing her sword down, Shou walked slowly to this man named Varick. The legend spoke of a stranger entering this realm, but who would have thought it would be this type of odd fellow.

"Um.. can you understand me?" Varick scratched the back of his head trying to make sense of this development.

"I am really sorry if I entered your home… I would go back if I knew how I got here…" Noticing that the young girl before him was carefully studying him, he tried to explain but she didn't seem to understand him. Or so he thought.

At this point Ruishi had already put his weapon down and sat languidly on the sofa watching the entertainment in front of him. He knew about the legend of course, he simply didn't think he was worthy of it. Knowing Shou's character, she is about to test this young man, shaking his head he just simply sighed and sipped his tea.

Shou tossed the intruder her sword, who by the way almost impaled his own foot trying to catch the thing. She walked over to Ruishi and held out her hand, he gazed at the rude young lady then lifted his chin towards his own weapon.

"Shishi, the least you can do is hand it to me!" Shou scoffed at Ruishi

"You're the one that wants it, what has it got to do with me?" He snapped back and proceeded to ignore the crazy cat lady.

"Fine!" Shou snatched the sword and paced back to Varick.

Dumbfounded by this exchange, Varick had no clue what they wanted from him, he simply wanted to go home!

'Oh god, am I about to die?'
