Alisha sighed, it was her third sigh in the last three... no, two minutes, but George and Bryan weren't picking up what she was putting down. Eliza seemed a bit out of it, everyone could tell, she was fazing in and out of conversations and was flustered. Alisha sighed again, this time, finally, George turned around to her and asked, "Why are you sighing so much?" he sighed back at her and she giggled slightly.
Bryan rolled his eyes and stared at Alisha's face, his gaze travelled lower, Alisha and George were conversing, Eliza was staring at nothing, so no one noticed where Bryan was looking. She was the same clothes as the day before, pyjamas, made for comfort, not hiding too much. Maybe because she was rich, but her pyjamas were made of silk, they stuck close to her skin, he could see the outline of her bra. She had been wearing a jacket over the top the night before, and changed her pants, but she couldn't be bothered with her shirt. Thus, Bryan's gaze fixated on her chest, his breathing staggered and he felt nervous. He quickly excused himself using the bathroom as an excuse. No one noticed that he had grabbed her jacket, he was wearing a large coat and had managed to hide it underneath. He smelled her flowery scent, and sighed, he was getting aroused...
Inside the room, no one particularly cared about the lack of Bryan's presence. Eliza kept staring at her sister, when she suddenly felt George's arm on her shoulder. She turned to him, her eyes glazed as she hadn't blinked in a while, making his heart flutter. Eliza truly was unaware of her effect on him, he felt himself being drawn to her like moth to light. He asked, "Are you feeling okay Eliza?" and she simply cocked her hair to the left slightly, 'confused' written on her face. So! Cute! he thought, he was a bit too attracted to this girl, but he knew that he couldn't make a move right now. Alisha grinned at them, she felt good knowing that Eliza was in good hands.
She wondered why Eliza was so out of it, so both George and Alisha turned their attention to Eliza. "Ellie!! I want your attention!" Alisha whined like a spoilt child, Eliza laughed and tossed herself onto the bed. She cuddled with her sister, but she was feeling so far apart from her sister. She knew that she should confront Alisha, but her inner turmoil kept her from doing so. She simply decided that she'd let Alisha get better first.
Bryan came back into the room quietly, everyone was distracted so they didn't notice his presence. He placed the jacket back, it was ruffled up a lot now, and he looked much calmer. He noticed that both girls were quite tired at this point, and ushered George out. "Get better Alisha." was all he said, she finally turned to acknowledge him, and his gaze sent chills down her spine, as it always seemed to do. Thought it wasn't noticeable because he left, her heart-rate sped up, not with excitement but fear. She could feel it in her fingers, she felt her head ache even more.
They both fell asleep shortly after, Alisha still had drugs in her system, and Eliza was simply tired. That night they both had interesting dreams, Eliza's dream haunted her endlessly.
She couldn't see in front of her, she could only see behind. And behind her was a Alisha, but a smaller Alisha. It was when she had first met her little sister, she remembered thinking that Alisha was a princess, just like her. She remembered thinking that Alisha looked a lot like her daddy, but she was softer than daddy. Suddenly, Eliza was looking eye to eye with Alisha, she couldn't control her movements, instead she saw her pudgy, small hand reach out to the princess in front of her. "Welcome to our kingdom!" she found herself giggle.
"Our... kingdom?" She never thought of it as a child, but she realised that she didn't know the effect of her words on her sister. She had seen Alisha's file in her father's drawer once, she was sixteen at that time, and had never even wondered before that why she suddenly had a sister. She never talked to Alisha about that. Alisha always talked to her about her own problems, she somehow always assumed that Alisha simply didn't have any problems.
Even after reading the file, things went on as per usual, even after Alisha had a breakdown in the car, Eliza couldn't do anything. She could only look behind, but she was too scared to look behind anymore. She felt so guilty, so selfish, but she didn't know how to approach Alisha, because she never had to take care of Alisha. Her sister was so independent, she always assumed that Alisha would manage it herself, only if she really needed help would she approach her.
Then, she could suddenly see in front of her. There was a child, she simply just knew that it was her child. She saw a man, he seemed to be her husband, but she couldn't make out his face. Suddenly, the child was gone, she was being beaten by her husband. It was almost like another life. Then, she saw George, she liked George, but she couldn't be with him, why... why couldn't she be with George? That's right, she was married. Then, she saw Alisha's child, she was married to... Bryan? She loved the child, she thought it looked just like Alisha. She saw her mother, hovering over the child, holding a knife, blood dripping down the knife, she saw her nephew get stabbed by her own mother.
She screamed, her knees shaking as she pushed her mother off her nephew. "NO! NO! No..." She screamed before she began sobbing, why would her own mother do something so devious? "YOU B***H!" She screamed before she turned to her mother and kicked her, again and again, she couldn't stop until George who had heard the commotion pulled her away. Alisha walked into the room, she could finally move again, Bryan helping her still, he seemed like such a good husband. Alisha shrieked as she saw the sign, Bryan paled, his eyes wide as saucers, they ran to the cot. She had never seen her sister look so desperate, so broken, it was her own mother's fault. She kept apologising but Alisha just hugged her, Bryan hugged them both, George too. Diana lay on the floor, she had lost her consciousness a while ago, she was placed into prison, death penalty. Rightfully so.
Alisha was never the same, she was jittery, depressed, she never talked, barely ate, she couldn't even sleep. Bryan was barely holding himself together, he was stuck in his routine as well, they were trying to live but Eliza didn't think they could hold out without help. Plus, she hated her home, so she moved in with Alisha, temporarily. Things seemed to get better, Alisha was smiling again. Suddenly, the world turned black, she couldn't see ahead or behind. She was... dead?
Eliza woke up suddenly after feeling... death? She felt cold near her back and realised it was soaked with her sweat, she turned to Alisha and sighed. Let me keep care of you, just for once... she thought, but she only cuddled closer to her sister and went back to sleep.
