Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Slave Merchant

Our forgetful friend found himself in a cage as a rather round mustached man walked into the tent. He walked over to the cage as he hit the top of it and yelled "You awake yet?" Thomas didn't bother answering and instead lifted his hand to his stomach. He felt around and found out that the three men must've patched his wounds up to prevent him from bleeding to death. The mustached man began to walk away as Thomas decided to ask "Where am I and how did I get here?" The mustached man turned around as he began to grin and say "So now you decide to answer." As the man came closer Thomas got a better look at him as he saw the man had a cane and glasses. The man still walking closer said, "Three men came to me with you and asked how much you were worth and I told them five gold coins, and as soon as I told the men they gladly handed you over to me and left."

Thomas glared at the man through the cage and said "So now I'm just merchandise?" The man said "Not just any merchandise your my smartest creature here now that I've sold all the others." Thomas laid down in the cage and said "Don't expect me to comply with you or your customers." The man began to laugh as he said "I never expected you to comply with them but don't worry about that I have my own way of getting my creatures to work." Thomas rolled over to stare at the man as he said "I'm not interested." The man's grin grew wider as he started to walk away saying "You'll soon find out anyway so I won't bother trying to explain it to you." Thomas sat back up and grabbed the bars saying "The hell's that suppose to mean?" The man said nothing as he left the tent. Thomas looked around and said to himself "Guess I better get comfy I could be here a while." He yawned as he laid back putting his arms behind his head and crossing his legs.

Before he went back to sleep he said "I'll leave tomorrow's problems for tomorrow's me." As he went to sleep he woke back up in the field of flowers with the lady. She turned to him and said, "Back so soon?" He looked at her and asked, "What are you talking about back so soon?" He thought about it for a while. After thinking he looked at her and decided to ask "Does this place have run off of a separate time?" She glanced back at him as she said "Yes and no." Thomas looked back at the sky and asked "What is that even suppose to mean?" She began to talk as Thomas interrupted and said "I know I know I'll soon find out for myself right?" She laughed at his question once again and said "If you already knew the answer why would you ask such a question?" Thomas looked at her and sighed saying "Your right." She started to walk towards him as she said "It seems like you're distressed about something." She continued to walk towards him as she asked "What's bothering you?"

Thomas glances back at her and then looked back at the sky as he said "It's no problem." She stuck her hand out and grabbed his hand as he shouted "Wait you mean your not a complete hallucination?" She laughed and said, "Is that what you thought I was." Thomas looked at her and said, "But you only appear when I'm unconscious?" She looked into the distance as she said "I'm as real as you and the world." She continued to talk as she said "Though we aren't physically near each other now our minds are still connected." Thomas stared at the sky and said "So your a real-life person and your saying I have to find you to remember who you are?" She looked at him and said "Not quite but your making progress." He looked back at her and said "So I'm not entirely wrong either?" She looked back as she said, "you must do what your heart tells you." Thomas looked back at the sky as he sat down and said "I'm more of the kind of guy that goes with his gut."

She let out another laugh as she said "Do as you must but be careful of the path you take." Before he could ask her what she meant he was awoken by loud banging on top of the cage as the mustached man yelled "Wake up." Thomas woke up as the man continued to bang on the cage as he yelled "It's time to eat." Thomas looked in front of him as he looked at a poorly made meal he looked at the man and asked "Is there anything I can do to get out of here?" The mustached man kneeled to the cage as he laughed and said "The only way you get out of here is if I sell you or you die." Thomas didn't have much to say other than "There wouldn't happen to be a secret option three would there?" The man laughed and said, "I like your personality but it won't do you any good in a place like this." Thomas looked at the man and said "Guess I'm going back to sleeping." The man grinned and walked away.

When Thomas fell asleep he didn't wake up in the field of flowers this time he just slept. The next time he woke up was some time in the middle of the night. When he woke up he heard one of the cage doors open as the mustached man talked to another man. Thomas couldn't make out any of the words but he knew that the man was buying a beast from the mustached man. Once the cage was completely open a giant wolfman stepped out as it snarled and howled at the sky. The beast looked at the men as it lifted its claw for an attack it was suddenly shocked. The beast fell to the ground as the mustached man smiled and said something else. The other man nodded as they both left the tent as the wolfman followed them. Because Thomas's cage was so close to the tent's entrance and exit he could now hear what the men were talking about.

He heard the mustached man's voice as he said "If you buy this monstrosity it should be able to help you out with what you need as long as you give it the order after all this is one of my best creatures." The other man looked at him and said "And if it doesn't work?" The mustached man then said, "If it doesn't work come back and trade it in to pick out another one." The man agreed to the circumstances and said that he'd recommend others to him. The mustached man laughed and said, "Be sure to and make sure to tell them that I'm open twenty-four hours a day." The mustached man walked back into the room with the cages and pounded on top of Thomas's cage as he said "Looks like you've gotten lucky this time turns out I have a buyer that's supposed to stop by and he's looking for intelligent slaves."

The mustached man turned around and said "I don't know why he wants intelligent creatures and I don't care as long as they're paying but you better perform well because if he doesn't purchase you there's no telling how long you'll be in that cage of yours." Thomas still laying down said, "Sure whatever you say." The mustached man left the room and said "I'll be back to get you when the buyer arrives." Thomas yawned and said, "Whatever you say if you need me I'll be right here besides it's not like I can go anywhere anyway." As Thomas went back to sleep morning soon came and the sun began to rise. Once the buyer arrived the mustached man walked into the tent with a man and his daughter the mustached man pounded on the cage as he shouted "Rise and shine." Thomas began to wake up as he saw the little girl he said "Is this really a safe place for a kid?" The man and his daughter looked at the mustached man as he asked "How much is he?"

The mustached man said, "Let's see he's a remarkable learner and is my best slave." The mustached man looked at him and said "How does eight gold coins sound?" The man looked at his daughter and said "Very well." The mustached man smiled and said, "I'm glad to hear that." As the cage unlocked the door slowly swung open. As Thomas stood their the mustached man smiled and said "They normally try to run at this point you really must be a smart one." He said follow me as he led Thomas, the man, and his daughter to another room as he said, "Please slice your finger and place a drop of blood on where I'll be drawing the seal." Thomas looked at him and asked "What seal?" The mustached man smiled and said "The seal of obedience." The man held Thomas down as the mustached man started to draw the seal.

Thomas struggled and tried to break free but by the time he realized he couldn't get away the seal was already drawn. The man told his daughter that Thomas would obey her and do whatever she asked once she cut her finger with the knife and let a drop of blood land on the seal. The girl looked scared as the girl's father took her hand and pricked her finger as he held her hand above the seal. Once the blood fell from her hand Thomas screamed out in agony as the seal started to burn. The mustached man said, "He'll probably be unconscious after this for a little while but he'll wake up shortly."
