Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 An Unfair Duel

It's been about one month since our forgetful friend ended up in this world and he's finally learned some of the demi-human languages. He can maintain a conversation but he's still unfamiliar with most of the language. He still helps out around the village Thomas was out collecting fruit from the trees in the forest where he had slain the dire bear right this very moment. As he was walking back with two baskets full of fruit he smelt something. Something very familiar something he's only ever smelt once before. Trying to think about what the smell was as he walked back to the village. But it wasn't until he was out of the forest and able to see the village that he realized what the smell was. There were black clouds of smoke rising from the village as he dropped the fruit baskets and ran toward the village.

Once he arrived he saw people fleeing from the area yelling "Run away while you still can!" Unsure of what the danger was he said "Keep going I'm gonna see if anyone else needs help evacuating. He ran towards where the black clouds of smoke originated yelling "Can you hear me?" He ran and ran until he suddenly ran into three strange men wielding torches and swords and dressed In armor from the chest down. Once he saw the men one of them yelled "Looks like we got another one of those freaks over here." Another one of the men said, "Great kill him and move on to the rest." As the man said this he started to run as the men chased after him not giving him a moment to rest. One of the men yelled out "You can run but you can't hide." The men quickly caught up to him as they tackled him to the ground. Once knocked off his feet he said "What do you guys want with the village?"

The men had only one thing to say "Nobody likes Demi-humans and so we're doing the world a favor and exterminating your peaceful village." Suddenly Thomas smiled and said, "You think our village is just gonna kill over?" The men looked at him and said "Course not we gotta give it a beating first." Thomas looked at him still smiling as he started to get back on his feet and said "If we're gonna do this wanna at least make it an official duel?" The man smiled and said, "At least one of you has a spine." Thomas said if I win you have to leave the village alone forever. The man thought about it for a moment and then asked "What's in it for us if we win?" Thomas looked at them and said, "I'm yours to do whatever you want with." The men started laughing and said, "You got yourself a deal." The men drew their swords and said "Pick up a weapon and don't worry we'll be sure not to kill our prize."

Thomas looked around but the men said "You've got five seconds to find a weapon before we all charge you understand?" Before Thomas could respond the men started counting down and Thomas started scurrying the rubble for a weapon. Unable to find a weapon Thomas picked up a broken board and said "Ready when you are." The men started laughing again and said "You can give up now if you don't want us to embarrass you." Thomas didn't have much of a reaction to their insults but he was still smiling and was ready to go. The duel began although it was three against one Thomas smiled on and charged back at them. Once Thomas got close enough for an attack he swung the board at one of their faces. Unfortunately, he missed and the man who dodged swung his sword and hit Thomas's left arm.

His arm immediately started bleeding but he just looked at it and said "Is that all you got?" The men looked at him angrily and shouted "Don't you mock us you don't even got a real weapon." The men still charging at him with their swords as he dodged to the best of his ability as the village people gathered around to watch the fight as the village continued to burn down during the fight. The men continued to charge him as the townspeople started to chant Thomas's name. The three men started to yell "Once we beat him will slaughter you all next." The village people suddenly grew quiet and all you could hear were the sounds of battle. Thomas continued to dodge until he found an opening and bashed one of the men with the board. The man yelled out "I was just gonna beat you till you couldn't stand but now I'm gonna beat you within an inch of your life."

Thomas's grin grew wider as he yelled "I'd like to see you try." The men grew even more furious as the fight drug on. The men all swung at once and managed to hit his right arm and left leg. The men made sure not to kill him but they were making sure he got ten times more beat up than they were. Thomas though unsure of how he'd win he refused to give up and continued to fight even if he lost more and more blood from every move he made. Thomas knew that the only reason he hasn't blacked out yet was the adrenaline of the battle. Knowing that he was losing more and more blood he would soon pass out despite the adrenaline Thomas had to make a reckless move as he leaped toward them swinging a wooden board at full force and hitting one of the men in the head and knocking them unconscious. Of course one of them took action upon his reckless move as he shoved a sword through Thomas's stomach.

Thomas stares down at the sword that was now sticking through him and said, "Well looks like you got me beat huh?" The man let go of the sword as Thomas fell to the ground. The village people began to flee as Thomas laid on the ground with the sword still sticking out of his back. Thomas looked at the village people as he tried to say the words run quickly but he couldn't get the words out without spitting up blood. The men picked up the unconscious man and said "We'll be back for our prize as soon as we get this idiot patched up." The man Thomas knocked unconscious with the board was bleeding from the head and looked as if he had gotten overrun by a horde of goblins. Thomas rolled over and pulled the sword out of his chest and said "Looks like I've lost this one but I ain't gonna back down from what I said now." Staring into the sky he slowly began to lose consciousness once again.

But before he knew it he woke up in the field of flowers again as the same girl stood there waiting. But before the girl could talk Thomas said "Lady I still don't have the slightest clue on who you are." The lady rose her hand to her mouth and let out a laugh as she said "Ok." She turned to the sun and said "Do you remember those words I said to you when you were fighting those goblins." Thomas looked at her and said "You can't die yet. right?" The lady said, "yes those were the words I said to you." Thomas looked at her and asked, "What do you mean I can't die yet." The lady looked at him and said "You'll have to find that out on your own." Thomas looked up at the sky as he said "I'm never gonna get used to this am I?" The lady turned back to Thomas as she let out another laugh and said "No you most certainly won't." Thomas looked at her and said, "Guess theirs only one way to find out."

Thomas sat down as he said "You know this is the longest I've ever been in this place and to tell you the truth it's kind of exhausting. The lady looked at him and said "The time you spend here is completely up to you." Thomas looked at her and before he could ask his next question he woke up. This time instead of waking up in a room on a bed with a fresh set of clothes he woke up in a very different location. As he woke up he noticed that he was in a cage in a large tent in a place he'd never been before. The three men were nowhere to be seen and he was sitting in the dark but he wasn't completely alone. While sitting there he heard animals making sounds all around him. He heard hissing in the cage next to him and loud roaring coming from outside the tent. He heard many sounds he was unfamiliar with and many new smells as well.
