Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

'

'Alex. Can you hear me?' Mom's voice was definitely going through my head.

'Mama.'

'My little angel, do you remember me?' I could hear the happiness in her voice.

'How can I forget my own mother?'

'Mommy is coming to get you, but you need to tell me where you are.'

'No, mama. I can't come right now.'

'Why not? Your parents and Arthur have been waiting for you. You know how hard it has been for us. I...I want to see you.' I could tell she was on the verge of crying.

'Mama, you have to trust me. I recently awakened, and my mana is unstable, so I need to be treated here. They said I could die.' I could hear the gasp from the other end. I knew I shouldn't lie to her, but Maria and Albert asked me to only stay here four more years, and they would let me go. I trust their decision. Well, I wasn't totally lying considering the fact that I could die if I don't train my soul to absorb a part of Ariella's soul.

'Is it something serious? Let me come over there.'

'Mama, you need to trust me on this. I will come to you when the time is right. I am alive and well.' Next was dad's voice.

'I understand your decision. I will send you our address later when we contact you again.'

'Alright, papa!'

'There is one more thing I want to say to you. You know, you and Arthur are going to be big brothers.' I was thrilled when I heard this. Since I never had any siblings in my past, I was pleased to hear that I had an older brother. Now, I am about to get a younger sibling.

Someone tapped my shoulder. It was Prince Cleo.

"You look spaced out."

'Papa, call me later. I'll be waiting.'

'Okay, son.' I turned to Cleo. He didn't really look that upset by the fact that I beat him in our last match. He must have been over it. I gave him a smile indicating to him that I am alright.

We walked into a place filled with soldiers. There should be at least a hundred or more soldiers in that room. The ceiling was made of glass, so the sunlight came through into the room. There were also some colorful patterns on the glass that made the sunlight reflect in different colors. It was

quite beautiful to witness. It was also the first time I saw something like this.

The soldiers were split into two groups. One of the groups was doing physical training, while the other group was meditating. I guess they were conducting both classes in one room. When they saw King Howard, they all stopped what they were doing and bowed down. King Howard held out his hand, and everyone resumed their training.

"Do you know what you want to do?" It was from Cleo again. I shrugged. "Then why don't we explore and see what fits you better? I would recommend being a swordsman since you might have a talent for that. Also, you might not have awakened yet, so it's going to be hard to do mana training."

"I agree, but I would have to disagree with prince Cleo. Maybe you could be a greater magician if you start training now since you awakened earlier than usual." I looked up at Albert. I guess he has been listening to our conversation. I turned back at Cleo to see his shocked expressions. The other two princes and Serena had shocked expressions as well.

"Wait, you-" I cut the eldest prince off. I just didn't want to keep on talking. I want to get started with training.

"Papa, can I look into both of them?" Albert looked at King Howard. Once he got the approval, he smiled at me. I did not waste a single second more and walked towards the training sessions. I silently watched over both classes, observing as the instructors gave out advice and instructions

to each soldier. I could see some of the soldiers struggling from the training regime.

I lost track of time and got so lost in watching them with all my concentration that I didn't notice King Howard coming up to me. I only noticed him until he put his hand on my shoulder.

"Do you know which class you want to do?" I thought about it really hard. Both of them were beneficial for me, but I basically knew swordsmanship. I have been in a lot of wars, and that helped me sharpen my skills with almost any weapon. All that means nothing if my body was weak, but magic was something I never learned.

"Can I do both?" The king looked surprised at my question.

"You can, but it is too much work." I just need to strengthen my body to support my skills, so I just need to just do basic exercises.

"I want to do both."

"Are you sure?" King Howard raised his eyebrow.

"Yes, I want to practice swordsmanship during the morning and magic during the afternoons and evening."

"You might be a little weak when it comes down to physical health."

"That is fine."

"Okay, then. Let me take you to our instructors."

With that, King Howard waved over the two instructors. Both of them responded quickly by stopping their classes and hurrying over to us. They bowed down in respect to King Howard. "This is Alex. I want you to teach him. He wants to learn swordsmanship during the morning and magic during the afternoons and evening." Both of them looked at each other.

"Your majesty, don't you think the boy is too young to learn swordsmanship, let alone magic." Even if King Howard didn't see their faces, I did. They were frowning. I guess I really was too young.

"Do not worry about that. Alex awakened at the age of three." Both of them looked bewildered.

"What? Then it is an honor to teach him, your majesty, but will he be able to understand?" King Howard looked at me.

"If he doesn't learn anything in a month, I will take him to his home personally." Were they betting?

"Please come to my class first, young master." The senior magician took my hand and led me to the very front. He sat me down. "Please listen to my instructions."
