Over a dozen kilomiters away from where Salem and Alina were, the corpse they had inspected stirred. It groaned and tried to stand up. The corpse staggered briefly before righting itself and making its way north.
The whole time, it was muttering to itself.
"How does some small contraption made by some backwater machinist manage to make such a massive explosion?" It muttered. "And it even managed to produce radiation!"
With unsteady steps, his radiation-cooked legs dragged him northward.
Without food, it wouldn't survive long. Conviniently coming across an irradiated boar, it began to eat.
As it tore the slightly crispy skin off, it began muttering to itself again.
"When I make it through this I swear I'm going to sell all of the information I have and die in mountains of coins."
Finishing it's grotesque meal, the creature felt stronger.
Making it's way more steadily through the massive wasteland, it never occured to it that the area of effect was still expanding.
....
It was several days before the corpse made it to a city. It had become numb to the effects that the wasteland had on everything around it.
Seeing the city, it tried to enter through the front gate.
"Halt!" A pale looking soldier yelled at the corpse. "Who are you?" The soldier seemed to be trying to hold his lunch down.
"I'm Gary!" The corpse named Gary yelled. "I have information to sell for this branch of Jade Lotus. Let me in."
Glancing warily at Gary, the soldier sent a messenger to the Jade Lotus branch.
....
30 minutes later, the messenger came back and whispered something to the guard.
The guard's face changed to one of panic. "I'm sorry sir! I didn't recognize you!"
Waving him off, Gary stepped past the guard.
"I don't expect you to. I was almost burnt to a crisp, after all." He said, not remembering that the same had happened to Salem. He then told the runner to bring him to the Jade Lotus branch.
Rubbing his hands together, he thought of all of the money he was going to get. Seeing where he rubbed turn to powder, he made a mental note not to rub his hands together.
....
Half an hour later, Gary sat in front of the branch office administrator.
"So, whats your oh-so-important information you have for us?" The admin asked, looking disgustedly at the burnt corpse that was somehow still Gary.
