Salem awoke the next morning to a system notification.
---
Your prior knowledge of Necromancy has exceeded a certain threshold. Your first spirit companion will be strengthened by 500%.
---
'HOLY S**T!' Salem thought, shocked and pleased. 'Reading all those Necromancy books paid off. What's my comprehension?'
---
Innate Comprehension: 75%
Learned Comprehension: 0%
Total Comprehension: 75%
---
'Well,' Salem thought, amused. 'That's amazing.' His innate comprehension was so high it was funny.
Getting up, Salem walked away from Alina so as not to disturb her. Salem then activated Spirit Summon.
As he watched with fascination, a figure slowly coalesced into a blurry black skeleton holding a book. After it was fully formed, the skeleton knelt and spoke. "May I have a name, master?"
Salem thought for a moment. "I shall name you Reaper." He felt that each one of his summons should have a badass name like that. "Please stop kneeling. It makes me uncomfortable."
"Apologies, master.Reaper stood up hurriedly.
Ignoring Reaper's overenthusiastic actions, he asked a few questions.
"Is it normal for summons to be able to speak?" He was curious to see what was applicable from his 'educational reading' in his past life.
"No, master. Only summons above the General rank can, to my knowledge. I am General rank." He sounded surprised when he said he was a General rank summon.
Salem, using Vessel Creation, made an exact copy of Reaper's corporeal form using nanomachines had Reaper possess it.
"Is this a good vessel for you?" He asked, watching, fascinated, as Reaper tested it out.
"This vessel is incredible!" Reaper sounded surprised. "Normally, for a Necromancer's first vessel, they would use clay or dirt. Not only is your first vessel wonderfully complex, it is also strong, durable, and it requires very little psyche for me to operate it. So little, I regenerate my psyche faster than I use it to move. Thank you so much, master."
Salem was immensely pleased. "And what of your book?" He inquired.
"My book is the Necronomicon. It is my Spirit Tool." Reaper replied. "Once any Spirit Familiar reaches General rank, they can condense their first Spirit Tool. Spirit tools are usually influenced by the summoner's knowledge or desires."
"Last question before I store you for now."
"What is it, master?" Reaper didn't complain about the fact he was going to be stored. He just seemed happy to interact with Salem.
"What kind of Spirit Companion are you?"
"I am a Lich, master."
