Gary's irritation soared. First he had been forced into taking a small bounty by the local government, and now, just after lunch, he had lost the bounty's trail.
'Just coming to this part of the country was a horrible idea.' He thought, exasperated. 'Too bad I'm not strong enough to beat the government into a pulp.'
Gary was a tracker. His class comprehension had almost reached 40%. One's combat prowess was usually directly related to their comprehension. For this part of the country, it was rare for anyone but officials to have more than 40%. This was due to the city officials lining their pockets with $100 bills. Using their 'pocket money' they were able to pay for information and experiments, pushing their comprehension further, faster than common folk.
Just thinking about the corrupt city officials made Gary's anger soar to new heights.
'If I had access to those resources, I wouldn't squander them on experiments like that!' He thought angrily. 'All they do is experiment and inflict pain upon others. Why can't there be more people like me?'
Gary considered himself a good person. If Salem knew him, he'd scoff at the affront to good people. Gary was only helpful when the money was good or there was no option for refusal.
When the thought of money crossed his mind, Gary felt depressed. 'I'm slowly running out of money. If I fail this bounty, I'll lose everything I've worked for in this life.' Out of options, Gary elected to go the direction the bounties had been headed before he lost them next to a massive tree. 'Wait..Trees. Did they climb the trees?'
Gary looked up just in time to see Salem take off, shortly followed by Alina. He watched in amazement as the duo actually flew.
'Although I'll never catch them now, I can still collect the bounty. It wasn't for capture, it was for information, wasn't it?' Rubbing his hands together, Gary began planning out how he would find the pair and sell their information to various powers and amass a fortune.
Gary's mood pulled a 180 as he thought of all the factions he could sell to.
'Especially the Jade Lotus faction to the north.' He mused. 'That's where they're going, isn't it?'
Gary threw his head back and laughed maniacally. With the thought of money keeping his mood afloat, Gary made his way back to the city to collect the bounty.
Although the officials weren't happy, they paid the bounty and Gary made his way towards what he considered his ticket to fame and fortune.
