Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

"A Lich? Like an undead Necromancer?" Salem asked Reaper, wanting to confirm.

"Yes, master." Reaper replied, not understanding Salem's excitement.

"Thank you, Reaper. You may return to my shadow." Using Spirit Storage, Salem watched Reaper disintigrate moving like sand in the wind and joining Salem's shadow.

'Apperently I have had so many lucky envounters that they don't really affect me anymore.' Salem thought.

'That's both depressing and good'

Salem walked over to Alina, who was still asleep despite a ray of sunlight shining directly over her face and roused her.

Awaking groggily, she sat up and seeing Salem's face, asked what happened.

"Oh I'm a Necromancer now." Salem replied nonchalantly.

Alina continued to stare at his face intently.

'Is there something on my face?' He thought. 'Oh yea with my class up I can talk.'

Alina waited for a bit in silence before finally asking. "Since when could you talk?"

"After my secondary class upgrade." Salem wondered why she didn't ask about his necromancy class.

"So your burns didn't recover but your voice did?" She seemed incredulous.

"The system specifically stated that all injuries that interfered with normal body function would be repaired." Salem responded, confused.

"Oh, ok. So what's up with your class?"

"Well, I have an innate comprehension of 75%-" Salem stsrted to say but was cut off.

"75%?! DO YOU KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT EVEN IS TO GET TO SEVEN PERCENT?" Alina continued to rage for a while before she calmed down.

"So...Shall we go?" Salem asked, slightly scared of someone who can rant for the better part of an hour.

"Fine." She seemed agitated still.

Packing away their things, they left to continue to trek in the same direction as yesterday.

Over the next four days, Salem screwed around with his Necromancer skills. After his first summon of a corpse, he promptly learned he needed to either only summom the bones or wear a gas mask. Since he didn't know how a gas mask worked, aside from using it as a face covering, he just summoned the bones. Although there was still a scent from the bones, it was nowhere near as strong as a fresh and rotten corpse.

With every summon, and each question related to Necromancy from Reaper, his comprehension grew.

On the fourth day, they came across a city. Not one of the run-down towns they had encountered before. This was a sprawling mass of buildings and people. Not only was it bigger, it looked like 20th century architecture. There were tall buldings, though they were less than five stories, and buildings were smashed closely together to make more room for more buildings.

The whole city was surrounded by five meter tall walls, and a gate for each cardinal direction. As they entered the city, they encountered a problem.

"Oi, you travelers! The one that looks like an overcooked chicken!"

Salem turned, annoyed at the man's comments. "What do you want?" He demanded, unappreciative of the man's lack of a filter for his mouth.

"What's that on your back?"

"It's my weapon. Bug off." Salem didn't waste his time on the foulmouthed guard.

Turning to leave, he heard the guard say something that stopped him in his tracks.

"Think he's the Machinist?" He heard the guard ask the another guard.

"Nah. Could just be a class tool. But to be safe, we should report. Can't miss getting some of that sweet bounty, now can we?"
