A portal was located at the bottom of the rift. Previously, I thought that I was the one who had created the rift, but after looking at the portal, I realised that I was only a part of the reason why the ground had parted into two.
An underground portal used to open due to excessive deaths in a dimension. And the only portal that had the ability to open underground, was the portal that led to the dead; the portal that led to the underworld.
The underworld was a place where each and every being was dead. The dead beings could in no way, enter the other dimension. Because of this, the portal to the underworld wasn't as harmful as the other portals. However, the one condition that created a huge problem, was the fact that the portal would widen after every passing day. This would continue until the day the portal would become big enough to engulf the whole planet. After the portal would be as big as the world's radius, the whole planet would be forcefully teleported to the underworld. The amount of days the portal would take to reach the size of the Earth was approximately 3.
I had to face this problem alone. Bringing those individuals to such a portal was far too risky. I jumped into the portal, to enter the abode of the dead. Time passed far slower in the underworld, which would allow me to train thoroughly as a God.
The only way to close the portal was to kill a single being in the underworld. One of the problems of this condition, was that each and every being in the underworld was fairly strong. The main problem however, was that the dead beings often attacked in batches. Back in the beta realm, a group of level 3 heroes dealt with this situation by fighting against a parademon; a sub race of the demons present in the underworld. The parademon was all alone, and yet only one hero returned back alive. By the time that hero walked out of the portal, he had lost the ability to fight. Other than that, he could no longer access the system.
I was well aware of the risks, but I wasn't ready to let Earth go to hell. I had seen bad times in my life, there were people that berated me, and there were some that pushed me into situations worse than hell. Nonetheless, this was my planet. If anyone's going to take responsibility for it, it'll be me.
All this time, I had fought for dimensions thinking that somewhere out there, a person just like me, would be suffering at the lowest stage of this planet's hierarchy. To give that person hope, that was my motive.
As soon as I passed through the portal, I landed on rocks that were formed by lava. Pieces of land were present everywhere in the underworld. In between the land, lava flowed from every corner. The lava was hot enough to illuminate the entire underworld. The ceiling was covered with floating water about 65 feet high.
The first beings I was faced with, were demons. The strongest mortals in the underworld. They were beings of rock and lava, that were present in a humanoid shape. They were about 7 feet tall, and had facial features that could be observed on noticing them well. Above their heads, they had two horns, that were made out of solid rock.
Demons were dead souls that ventured to their final resting place. Whether they were kind or evil in their past lives, was unknown. Nonetheless, they now posed as a threat.
The demons had a variety of abilities. They could breath fire and had the strength of a Demigod. They could walk on lava, and could run with an extraordinary speed. Demons were more or less perfected beings who could fight through almost any situation. And at the moment, I was surrounded by three of such species.
One was present right in front of me. Another, approached me from the side, while one was behind me. Each of the demons were considerably far apart. While they progressed towards me, I leapt high, just below the ceiling, and spoke,
"System, hand me an ogre's tusk."
The tusk appeared right in front of me. I grabbed the tusk in midair while activating the red aura. I soon landed on top of a demon after piercing its body with the tusk. The demon roared, and ended up exploding. I wasn't aware of this skill that the demon possessed, and thus, I couldn't find a suitable counter on time. As the flames of the explosion moved towards my face, I guarded myself with the ogre bones. I was pushed back because of the explosion.
I had successfully cleared this portal, however, due to the explosion, several demons noticed my presence.
