"What is this arrow? Could this be related to the person who had possessed me before?" The image of him being possessed flashed through his mind. That person had an immense power, even though Tang Peng's body was just that of a human being.
"Could he possess special powers to level up a person that does not have any potential?" Tang Peng rubbed his sweaty palms together. He was extremely excited. What if he got a legacy of an elder cultivator? What would it be? A heavenly knife that can cut through everything? Powerful alchemy skills? The cultivator teaching him techniques? The possibilities were endless!
A talentless mortal that shoots up his cultivation base to become a unparalleled cultivator! This was the dream that he always had! Tang Peng was extremely motivated to go to where he was attracted.
However, at this moment, he had no way to get out of here and go to that location. The only plan he had was to ask Peng Xiu to carry him over to that area. Still, what if Peng Xiu wanted the cultivator's legacy for himself?
There was no way in hell he was going to give up the legacy willingly. He could only depend on himself to resurrect his own family. His heart had hardened significantly after the death of his family and friends.
For now, he needed to sate his hunger and thirst. If he died like this, it would truly be a disgrace to everyone he knew. The legacy would wait later.
Tang Peng explored the cave to look for traces of food. Even though it was highly questionable that a cultivator needed food, maybe Peng Xiu had left some behind for him while he was away?
The only things he found in the cold, damp cave was a steady stream of warm wind and a wooden table, which had several books wide open on it. There were also some jade bottles, which looked extremely delicate and tiny.
Tang Peng tried to read the books, but he could not understand the deeper meaning hidden inside them. What was Nirvana Grass? Heaven's Splinter? None of them contained a so-called cultivation technique, only listing down a few runes and complicated words.
He then tried to open the jade bottles with his bare hands. There was a stopper which was hindering his efforts, which seemed to be unmovable. It looked more and more likely that Peng Xiu really left nothing for him to eat.
Was there really no option but to go outside the cave to find food? Tang Peng gulped back his saliva. The problem here was that he really needed some water. Normally, there would be dew condensed on cave walls, but for some reason, there was no trace of water around anywhere! Was there even any vapour contained here?
Without water to drink, he was as good as dead. He did not want bet his life on waiting for Peng Xiu to return. If he waited till he starved and was parched, when he went outside to explore for resources, wouldn't he be dead?
Thinking about this, he anxiously rushed to the entrance of the cave. The defence array had already been repaired by Sect Leaser Pong Tiu discreetly before he went back to his residence.
When Tang Peng walked out, it did not really detect any threat, so it remained harmless. However, what was not harmless were the harsh winds assaulting him! It was like having millions of tiny rocks being pelted at him non stop, causing him to feel pricking pain all over his face and body.
Not only that, the winds on the mountain were also extremely cold. Tang Peng could not help but chatter his teeth from the low temperature. His skin also grew goosebumps, and he felt like he could be frozen to death at any moment.
No wonder all the cultivators use the sword skill to escape from here as soon as possible. These winds were simply too strong to handle!
Tang Peng slowly opened his eyes, as he needed to see where he was going. He did not want to drop off the side of the mountain and become a stain of blood.
Even though it was extremely blurry, Tang Peng still could make out a brown slope. In his excitement to get out of here as soon as possible, he rushed down the slope.
However, the slope did not seem as sturdy as it seemed. Tang Peng wanted to scream as he slid down the slope, but his chattering teeth could not open up, so he let out a muffled scream.
What was worse for Tang Peng, was that he was heading out of the slope. He was about to drop off the side of the mountain. This time, Tang Peng was scared enough to scream.
"AHHHHH!" Tang Peng let out an audible scream this time. He tried to grab the slope and get a grip on his speed, but he could not slow himself down.
Just as he gave up hope, he could feel himself hitting a brown object. The brown object stayed rooted to the ground, even though Tang Peng had rolled into him at a high speed. Tang Peng sighed in relief at having being saved when the brown object suddenly grasped his hand around his neck.
"Who are you? And why did you BUMP into me?" Tang Peng could see the brown object properly now. It was actually a tanned person, with long hair that had been clipped into a short neat hairstyle. He was wearing an elegant blue robe that bore the words, "Chief Disciple Meng Jia".
"I.... just wanted... to get off this... mountain."
Tang Peng could not form a proper sentence as the grip on his neck was especially tight. Hearing the words he said, Meng Jia sneered, before increasing the pressure of the grasp.
"Unghhh!" Tang Peng's eyes started to bulge out like a fish. He gritted the teeth and endured the pain caused to him. After a few more seconds, Meng Jia threw Tang Peng with great force onto the ground, making Tang Peng take huge breaths of the cold air.
"Pieces of trash like you truly belong within the servants! Servicing us is the only good you would do in your life!" Meng Jia spoke even more condescending words, but he then stomped off to his destination. He had no time to deal with an irrelevant servant, but he also could not randomly kill a servant of someone on this mountain.
"Meng Jia..." After being treated so unfairly, the gratitude Tang Peng has towards Meng Jia was gone. Instead, he bore a grudge with him instead. Meng Jia clearly bullied and threatened people for the fun of it, as shown by his behaviour towards Tang Peng.
Tang Peng could not tolerate people picking on him. "I will make him pay... pay..." Tang Peng pressed his bruised throat on the icy cold slope first to numb the pain, before he continued his way, slowly trudging down the cold mountain. Luckily, this was not a large mountain, otherwise Tang Peng might have already died from starvation and the like.
Tang Peng braved the cold weather, and held onto the rocks as he went down the mountain precariously. One drop could mean the end of his life. Even though his hands were bleeding from gripping the rocks so tight, it did not matter to him. The pain could not compare to his hunger and thirst. It was lucky for him that he appeared to have a natural high resistance to this cold weather.
Of course, he did not realise that his resistance to the cold was actually non-existent. His body's temperature had dropped to the point that he should have become an ice statue, and yet he persisted on. An ordinary person would have already died without protection from the winds, contrary to what Tang Peng had thought.
As Tang Peng went down further and further, he slowly lost track of time and space. It was not until he felt a warmth hit him that he realised that he had finally reached the foot of the mountain.
"Who is that coming from the Rotating Core mountain?" "Why does his robes look so tattered though? Even a mere servant of the powerful prodigies must be of Qi Absorption right? They should be able to fly by now. Wait, did that guy just collapse on the floor?"

A huge portion of food and spring water inside a lunchbox was placed into Peng Xiu's cave after a few minutes, along with a note. "Tang Peng, I will be leaving for a few days. The food should not rot since I engraved some sigils of cooling onto the lunchbox."
