Chapter 7 - Chapter 5 - Aftermath

The Town became abuzz with activity soon after news of Li Fen's sudden transformation overnight. Everyone who saw her had the impression that she was a holy angel. Her hair became as white as snow, and her silver eyes glowed like the moonlight.

Everyone came and visited the Hui's family household to see the beautiful infant, but even if they admired her looks, they still felt a lingering fear at the unknown. No one could explain why such a change would happen overnight, however, there are some who came up with theories.

Some blamed it on a conspiracy plotted by the other races, others claimed it was a terrible curse left by a wicked evil Magus which felt unhappy at the Townspeople for taking the magical herbs and killing the magic beasts in the forest. Still, others believed that she may be suffering from a kind of disease, but no matter what theory people came up with no one really knew what happened.

Although Li Fen's appearance shocked the Town, it soon died down over time and everything went quickly back to normal as the infant didn't cause anything unusual happening to others or the Town. And the fact that a few Mages who were interested in the change said that they couldn't find anything wrong with the infant, led to within a year everyone in the Town fully accepting the changes, leading to Li Fen once again becoming the sweetheart of the Town.

Within a year, Li Fen gained some control of her body and was able to move around on unsteady legs, though Li Fen still exerted some effort to not reveal anything too amazing for a child her age to do, as she was not planning to draw even more attention to herself since the sudden change to her appearance.

This also included her linguistic skills which she finally began to develop after being able to speak a word, and it only took a Li Fen an additional month to master the entire language, another accomplishment she hid for the purpose of not making her seem like some freak to the Town folks.

After Li Fen awoke to find the changes caused by Zhang Wei's new cultivation method, she was about to crazily argue with the Dragon over the incident. However, the Dragon immediately made her quiet as he listed the benefits he gave her as a result of his self-created technique.

It turns out Li Fen already good talent to become a mage as a result of her strong soul, according to Zhang Wei a much smaller amount of people in the continent had the talent to become a mage because of this restriction. A mage primarily draws in the essence through their consciousness, making their cultivation speed generally quicker than Warriors. But, the main need for a stronger soul is how they use their consciousness to control the essence to act on their will, it also allows them to tap into their elemental affinities. People in this word are also born with elemental affinities, including Warriors. The affinities determine your comprehension of elements, and which element you use. Mages require an affinity to an element to create spells which require that affinity, for instance only someone with a Light and Water element can cast heal spells. Although Warriors cannot directly use their affinities like a Mage can, it offers benefits to them also, as they develop a resistance to the element they have an affinity to.

And the major thing which Zhang Wei did for her, is something which could be described as unprecedented in this continent. With the use of a drop of blood essence which was condensed of his Silver Dragon bloodline, he used the extremely pure essence she refined to form a beast core. Although other humanoid races turned into beasts before, this was a result of the power of an inheritance from a legendary being, which had made amble preparations beforehand. And Li Fen has a beast core without fully being a beast herself, the benefits this could provide her is endless. One of the greatest strengths of beasts is that once they form a beast core, their bodies will be automatically strengthened with each circulation of the beast core itself. This means Li Fen doesn't even need to put any effort into body cultivation and can concentrate fully on the techniques of a Mage, which was an unimaginable benefit to her.

Although Li Fen had a passion for martial arts, Warriors do not possess the power to aid in her return to her World. Mages are the most powerful on this World for a reason, they cultivate mystical techniques which can allow a Top Leveled Mage to do things which seem unimaginable such as revive the dead, and transport to other dimensions.

Warriors have great martial strength, and strong physical bodies but they are limited to this aspect.

However, this wasn't the biggest benefit Zhang Wei brought her, it was instead the Silver Dragon bloodline itself! Zhang Wei said it was an ancient bloodline, one which was likely the strongest found on this World. It was only that's it's purity degraded so low that caused its current members to be weaker than the Golden dragons back then, and she quickly found out why they were so formidable! The bloodline provided by Zhang Wei directly gave her an affinity to all the elements and also greatly increased her overall potential in both the body and the soul. Normally, there is a limit to how much you can strengthen the body and soul, and you will reach a point where you do not have the potential to improve further. This is a major thing which differentiates those with talent and people without it, the one's with talent have the capabilities to improve further, whilst those with lesser talent are left behind.

This made Li Fen who even a newbie to those World knew how miraculous the gift Zhang Wei had given her was, and he even said the benefits would grow, even more, the further she improved the bloodline itself.

This gave Li Fen a great deal of determination to improve the Silver Dragon bloodline!

Therefore, after the matter was concluded Li Fen continued to cultivate silently, listening to Zhang Wei's teaching about Mages cultivation techniques and also continuing to pretend she was a normal child.

The strength of Li Fen's body grew day by day, and every time her cultivation level improved it seemed to contribute to the speed of the strengthening of her body. Zhang Wei, of course, explained this was credited to the more essence being stored within the orb, the more essence is circulated through her body.

Li Fen also added nourishing the Soul alongside her cultivation which she progressed in steadily in order to leave a strong foundation.

Like this, a few years past and she finally turned five years old.

"Daddy! Put me down!" Li Fen giggled as she was hoisted in the air by Hui Bingwen.

"Come on honey, put her down. You're getting too excited again." Hui Ying said warmly as she stared at the father-daughter duo.

"Ah! How can I not be excited? Our girl is easily the most intelligent and talented child in the Town, I'm sure she's going to become a capable person in the future! She may even become a Mages assistant." Hui Bingfen said as he proudly lifted Li Fen in the air.

Hui Ying just rolled her eyes at his antics, as she thought in her mind, 'Yes you are proud of her! But, that doesn't mean you have to carry her around and shout how talented she is in front all of the parents and children every day she comes out of School!'

The other parents of course just smiled at the scene as they were used to Hui Bingwen causing a scene every day like this one.

Many even can't help but find themselves nodding on the agreement as if to say the Hui's child was indeed more talented and capable than their child.

Li Fen was the unofficially adopted daughter in the Townspeople mind, and a common saying was going against Li Fen was like coming up against the whole town itself!

Thus, nobody disagreed with Hui Bingfeng at all.

Though all of a sudden an old man walked out of the School, which soon prompted all of the parents to turn silent as everyone paid great attention to the old man.

Even Hui Bingfeng turned serious and put down Li Fen upon noticing the old man's presence.

'What's going on?' Li Fen thought in her mind, seeing now importantly people took in the situation. But, this question was soon answered by the old man.

"As everyone knows the Testing from the Warrior and Mages academies is due next year, so I want to ensure everyone is ready and prepared for it. I know some of you already have children who are older than six that are beginning to cultivate a technique you have provided, but the Academies provide a major opportunity for everyone!"

The old man said, causing Li Fen to wonder, 'Academies?'

"The Academies is also a good opportunity to see if your child has the opportunity to become a Mage or has good potential as a Warrior. If your child has good endowments in either, they will be able to take a major leap in this Kingdom!" the old man said passionately.

Soon after saying this, a fervent passion burned in the parents' eyes, as they thought it would be amazing for their child to become an overnight sensation after being selected by an Academy.

That was a future which endless prosperity and status within the Kingdom, but soon after it was followed by a sigh. After all, not a single child with a Mages potential has emerged in over fifteen years within the Town, and the one back then also had low potential. This shows how unlikely it was, which caused the passion in their gazes to dim.

Li Fen couldn't help but notice the look within her parents' eyes, and think, 'I will make you proud!'
