Chapter 8 - Chapter 6 - Learning a Martial Arts Technique

Li Fen felt newfound determination upon hearing the news of the annual potential testing by the Kingdom. After all, this was an opportunity for Li Fen to provide her parents with a better life, and to also allow her to finally learn spells as a Mage!

In the last few years Li Fens arduous cultivation paid off and she achieved Rank 4 apprentice rank, which was an amazing achievement considering she has only allowed herself to refine the purest of energy.

Li Fen's body strength also continues to rise steadily, allowing her seemingly delicate body to contain great strength, as she was already stronger than the average man in the Town. Which considering she was five years old was terrifying.

And Zhang Wei said this will only continue to rise, as the main limiting factor on her body strength at the moment was her age, as Zhang Wei said with her bloodline and the cultivation orb, her body strength will easily rival magic beasts on the same level, and even beyond that the more she increases her cultivation level and increase the purity of her Silver Dragon bloodline.

The one thing she had yet to learn from Zhang Wei is spells and martial art techniques, which Zhang Wei credited to the fact that his technique is to high a level and not suitable for her to cultivate at this time.

Although Zhang Wei was a human previously, back then he was a Warrior and his transition to a Silver Dragon gave him the ability to do magic. This lead to his techniques being way to advanced for her level, as she required suitable comprehension in element to do, in addition to not having enough essence from her cultivation to perform the highly demanding spells.

This led to Li Fen entirely focus on cultivation, but today she felt it was time to demand at least one technique from Zhang Wei as he must have one thing suitable!

'Zhang Wei, are you sure there's no technique for me to practice? I feel as if my cultivation is useless if I cannot even do any basic means of defending myself' Li Fen said grumpily.

'As I said for Mages knowledge I have no spells for low-level ones, although I can offer steps on my comprehension it may a bit too complex because at the time I had access to a large number of cultivation resources and a much higher cultivation level.' Though as Zhang Wei finished, he paused as of he thought of something.

'Although there are techniques I can teach you! And that is martial arts, Warrior techniques!'

Upon hearing Zhang Wei, a passion reignited within Li Fen, after all, she loved every bit of martial arts in her previous life, so this was something which greatly interested her.

'What type of technique is it?' She thought.

'It is a footwork technique, one which would make you as fast as lightning!' Zhang Wei said proudly.

'Hmm. That's it? No offensive skills still? Then won't after learning this skill, I'd still only be capable of not using my cultivation at all, but will just be good at running away?' Li Fen thought dissatisfied, in her previous life she was known for her aggression and offence in her martial art's, so now she was told she was to learn a technique to avoid the enemy and avoid battling them head-on. Wouldn't that ruin her hard-earned reputation as the demoness?

'Humph. Escaping is one of the first things you should learn, and even after becoming a Mage this skill is useful, also learning the skill will provide you great manoeuvrability in the future and allow you to easily evade enemy attacks, returning them with force!' Zhang Wein said with a hint of annoyance in her tone.

Li Fen realising she was being a bit too greedy and impatient for a technique to finally use the power of her cultivation said, 'I suppose your right, after all, it is so peaceful right now, not like I need a combat skill anytime soon.'

'Good. Now, listen to technique is split into multiple levels, and when it reaches the peak will be useful to you even when you possess a high cultivation level. After all, this allows you to move very quickly in close combat, something Mages generally lack. The technique is called Zephyr Wind and has six levels, the reason the technique is difficult in the later versions if you need a sufficient understanding of the air element. I will now transmit the first level of the technique into your mind.' After Zhang Wei finished speaking, she felt a sudden burst of knowledge transferred to her mind.

At first Li Fen casual read the technique, but the further and further she looked through it the more engrossed she became. 'What a marvellous technique' She thought as she marvelled at the profoundness of such technique.

In her entire life, she hasn't learnt a technique that was so marvellous!

The knowledge gained from Zhang Wei demonstrated where and how to apply her essence, and she quickly remembered the paths, combinations, and different movements needed to practice a martial art skill. Although it was only one skill, it had many uses. Each usage had its own unique energy flow, and to be able to perform the individual abilities each and every one of them needed practice.

Li Fen couldn't help but feel a great deal of excitement in anticipation for trying the skill!

Li Fen remembered every combination, and quickly lead her essence towards her legs. She allowed it to flow through the paths she had learned, however, her brows quickly furrowed as she felt that something was wrong.

Although she felt as if he had gained some speed, it was definitely far inferior to what it should have been. Not only that, but her new speed was also very uneven and impossible to control.

Li Fen frowned at first, however, this quickly turned into a mesmerising smile as she thought that she fully knew what the skill was capable of, and only until she mastered it into perfection would it able to display its greatness. All that was needed was a great deal of practice, something which Li Fen wouldn't shy away from at all.

After learning the martial art skill, Li Fen decided to alter her schedule slightly. Prior to this she would spend most of her time cultivating, but now she required obvious practice for her new martial arts skill, so she ended up spending the early noon practice her movement skill whilst she devoted the afternoon and evening to refining essence.

Knowing the annual potential testing in the Kingdom would come up in a year, she devoted more time to master the skill and increasing her cultivation. Zhang Wei already said the academies can greatly benefit her, and he was perfectly capable of masking her cultivation and talent in all of the elements from the testing process in a year's time. This has her nothing to worry about for the next year but to continue to cultivate and master the technique Zhang Wei given her.

Zhang Wei already mentioned he would not give her a new technique until she obtained a different level of mastery in this one, so this made her even more diligent in practising the technique.

Like this, another few months went by, and her mastery of the technique grew more and more refined until eventually, she ended up feeling bottleneck just before the next level of the technique.

'Ah! I just can't seem to break through to the next level of Zephyr Wind, I feel as if I'm missing something.' She pondered agitated, 'Maybe, I need to find something else to do as sitting around doesn't help that much and Zhang Wei told me to rely completely on myself'

Li Fen had progressed rapidly in her mastery of the level 1 of the technique, but then her progress came to a halt when she felt she hasn't yet got enough experience with the technique, but just as she was thinking for a solution.

"Honey, your Father is going on a beast hunt with your friends in school and their parents. Why don't you come and send them off?" Hui Ying shouted.

Upon hearing Hui Ying a smile emerged lm Li Fen's face as she thought, 'Finally something which doesn't seem boring.'

An idea suddenly formed in her mind, as she walked to the direction of her mother and her Fathers hunting party.
