Just when she was about leaving his office, he held her hand and used that to pull her back to himself.
"Look! stop acting stubborn you are not, the real you aren't stubborn so stop trying to be who you are not okay?" We said still holding her hands.
"People do change, right? so let's just say I was not the stubborn type, but I am now, and I don't find it any funny of you holding me by hand, so let go off me!" She said with a voice bit too harsh as she let loose her hands from Li Wei's.
She walked out of his office, contemplating on how to get home. She barely knew her way out of that environment that was because she had never been there before now. We had not taken her to his office before now, so it wasn't her fault that she was clueless about where she was.
Maybe she could call her friend, Min to come to pick her up with a taxi, but where was she going to tell her she was? She looked around to see if any taxi was coming towards her direction, but none seemed to be in sight. She got discouraged, was she going to remain there or she could easily go back to Wei and ask him to get his driver to take her home.
at least, that sounded better off.
"I think I should just accept Wei's offer of riding with his personal driver. Nah! I won't try such." She murmured to herself.
**********
"Get in, " A car pulled up in front of her and the driver asked her to get inside the car. It wasn't Wei, that face looked familiar to Fang, she was trying to recollect where she had met him before.
"But you barely knew me, why are you asking me to ride with you?" She asked
"I know, but just trying to help you get to wherever you want to get to. Nevertheless, you've ridden in my car before so this isn't going to be your first time."
It now occurred to Fang who he was, but had forgotten his name already. That was He Jinyong, the charming looking guy that helped her home one evening after work.
She then got into the car and had the door closed.
"I remember you now. Sorry to ask, do you always get to know when am in this kind of need?" She asked as they drove.
"I already asked myself that question, Maybe fate wants it the way it's already making it to be, or what do you think?"
" I don't know what to think, all the same, thank you for coming to my aid for the second time." Fang Thanked him.
"You're welcome, so what have you come here for?"
"I guess that shouldn't be your concern, your major concern about me now is to get me home safely."
She was a bit rude to him. But Jinyong on the other side was not miffed by her rudeness. He thought it normal with most ladies. Especially those playing hard.
"Okay, you are Wang Fang, or isn't that the name you told me the last time? or maybe that isn't my business as well, so let me mind the kind of questions I ask you."
"It's funny how you reason, it's fine, I'm Fang. I can't even remember the name you told me was yours."
"Really, I am not surprised though, you were not really yourself that very day. So I don't expect you to have my name saved in your memory. I am He Jinyong." Jinyong said, smiling at her.
"Alright, thanks."
"So am I taking you to your house or stop your that same spot I did stop you the last time?" He asked.
The last time Jinyong helped Fang this way, she had not allowed him to take her to her house, she had ensured he stopped her miles away from her house. She was principled about not letting none close person knows her house especially strangers, I mean those she was just seeing for the first time, she was principled about it. That had really helped her a lot so she thought.
"Ooh, that! okay, you will get to know my apartment today but you are not going in, agreed?"
" I have no problem with that I quite understand you. But do you mind giving me your phone contact?" He asked
"Of course not."
Jinyong stretched his phone and asked her to punch in her digits. She did that and gave him back his phone.
Soon they got to her residence and she pointed at her flat to him before exiting his car.
Jinyong watched her walked unto her compound and then inside her apartment and then zoomed off.
**********
After taking a bath, he placed a call across to Fang. At first, she didn't pick so he thought she would be busy and decided not to call her until evening.
Soon, his phone rang, It was Fang calling back.
"Hello!" Fang had spoken first, she didn't have Jinyong's number. Due to he hadn't flashed her to have his number saved in her phone. But when she saw the missed call, she suspected it was from Jinyong.
"Fang, how are you?" He responded.
"I'm good, Jinyong?"
"Yes, sorry I didn't make sure you had my number earlier on. uh, you know what, do you take night calls?" He asked
"Not really, but why?"
"I'm kind of having something doing, I have a lot to talk to you about, I really wish we could talk tonight."
"Oh! I don't really like that, but since it's coming from you, I guess I get to make that sacrifice just to please you."
"Alright, thanks for that. I have to go now" Jinyong said, dropping the call.
As soon as the call went out, He jinyong started rehearsing what he would say to Fang, in fact, he knew what exactly he had to say, his problem now was how to say it.
Was he not being too fast or something? maybe that was how nature wanted it to be.
"Okay, Fang, do you have a boyfriend? Nah! too lame" He said in a soliloquy.
He was not the type that is quick to ask people about their private affair, especially when it comes to things like a relationship.
In his life, he had only been in a relationship once and it was a planned work between the girl's parents and his own parents.
They wanted them together, so he wasn't given the opportunity to do the talking himself so you see it's not his fault that he was not good at asking girls out.
He tried harder to get the right words to use, but words had failed him woefully. He then resolved to call his friend to talk to him about it.
"Chang An, What's up with you?" He spoke as soon as the call went through.
"I'm good, you?"
"I'm okay. Chang An, I have called you in regard to what I consider very important. I need your advise and guide on how to go about it"
"What's that?" Chang An asked curiously.
"I think I've fallen in love again, but the problem now is how to make her know about my feelings for her."
"Wow! who is she? I mean, where does she live and where did you meet her?"
"Man, that that's a discussion for another day, I just need you to give me some terms, I know you are good at these things."
" Really, you should be ashamed of yourself, are you not a man like me? even if am going to help out, I still need you to tell me how you met her."
Chang An had always wanted He Jinyong to move on, since his last relationship he had not had anything to do with any lady even though they threw themselves all over him.
When he could not convince Jinyong to have a new girlfriend, he had left him to his celibacy lifestyle.
"Okay fine, I saw her along the road on my way coming back from your residence one evening, she was waiting for a taxi so I offered her a ride instead. We saw today again" He Jinyong explained.
"I see, roadside love I guess. Okay, this is what you should do, you start by asking her out on a friendly outing, I mean lunch. Have a one on a conversation with her concerning herself, get to know her better, and please don't go too far into her private life." Chang An advised after mocking Jinyong for having a roadside love.
"Questions like what exactly should I ask her? to avoid asking her irrelevant questions"
"I guess you know what the word 'irrelevant' means, so you should be able to know the relevant ones to ask."
"Uhm? are you being serious now? Why then did I call you if actually, I was sure of what to ask her?"
"Bro, man up, please. Let me ask you, are you sure of what you feel for this lady in question? If I may ask, what's her name?"
"What I feel for her is love, and I am very sure about that. Her name is Fang. Do you have any issue with my feelings for her?"
"Hahaha, you talk like a child, having an issue with what you feel for her, you seemed to have forgotten so quickly how I used to pressure you to go get yourself another girlfriend after your last relationship with Ruoxi." He reminded He Jinyong.
"That's absolutely right. I will give her a call now asking her to join me at lunch tomorrow. After which I would get back to you."
"Alright, lover boy or should I call you lover man? Nah, lover boy suite you best, after all, you talk and reason like a boy when it comes to stuff like this." Chang An teased Jinyong.
"you're not serious, talk to you later." He hung up the call.
**********
He dialed Fang's number later in the night at almost past 12 am and was shocked to know that she was on call.
he checked the number again to be sure it was Fang line he had dialed, he was disappointed to realize that it was Fang's. Is it not the same lady that had earlier told him she does not take night calls? and her number seemed busy already.
Had she lied to him about that, he was just trying to make his feelings known to her and this was what he was already getting from her. A lie?
He dialed the number again, and this time she answered the call.
"Hello Jinyong, I've been awake waiting for your call."
Jinyong didn't utter a word immediately.
"Jinyong, are you there?" She talked for the second time since she did not get any reply from him.
He answered, "Yes, I am here, sorry for the late reply. How are you?"
"I'm good. you?"
"I am fine."
"Are you sure you are okay? you don't sound like it at all."
"Believe me, am okay. Fang, I think talking over lunch would be better, what do you think?"
"Lunch?. I don't think I would be able to have lunch with you tomorrow I am sorry." She turned down his request.
"Fang, we need to talk please, I really need to say all that I have to say to you one on one, try to understand me."
"I believe whatever you want to tell me can equally be told over the phone."
"Aren't we supposed to be friends already? why acting this way?" Jinyong asked with a tone that depicts disappointment.
"Stop making me feel bad already, okay fine, What time and venue?"
"Good. 2 pm would be okay. Let's meet at Divino Wine Bar and restaurant."
"Your choice, just try to keep to time."
"Definitely, I have to go now, good night dear."
"Good night!" she said as she hung up the call even before Jinyong could do that.
Jinyong could not wait for the next day to come by, he felt good now, that he did not even remember to get back to his friend that same night as promised.
The thought of him dining with the one his heart beats for, got him so excited.
