Jax just cried after lying about being the lone survivor. Only Jax knew he was not crying for being the only one who was able to escape from the bad people and hiding behind the dead corpses for two days straight.
Yes, for the past two days, every time he heard something similar to a vehicle's rumbling, Jax would immediately hide behind the small heaps of rotting flesh even though he couldn't stand the stench or the sight of them.
Now, the boy was only trying this hard to not let them discover that he was actually lying about it. He couldn't afford to slip up and handover his little sister to them.
Seeing a little boy cry endlessly must have stopped him from probing any further and didn't ask anything again.
Jax let out a sigh of relief quietly. But he didn't let his sniffling or tears stop because that was the only way he knew to prevent them from asking more questions.
