She could hear the commotion as all the students arrived. Some challenged each other and some gossiped, there were some that tried to finish their homework last minute and some that were discussing after school plans.
This high school was for the wealthy and talented, you had to be at least Second stage in cultivation to be accepted. There were fancy names for all the stages and ranking was the most important thing for anybody… but she just simplified the rankings into numbers.
No cultivation - stage zero
Basically no cultivation - first stage
Really really weak - second stage
Very weak - third stage
Slightly less weak - fourth stage
Weak - fifth stage
Probably Okay - sixth stage
Okay - seventh stage
Could be entertaining - eighth stage
Could fight her - ninth stage
Her brother was at Third stage cultivation and she wasn't sure what they would call her. When graduating from the school, most people were around fifth stage and the strongest in the world at the moment was eighth stage.
She looked at the time and groaned, it was almost time for her brother's fight. She rolled to the edge of the shelf and simply fell while putting the book back in the same way she got it. She landed lightly and walked to the general bathroom to meet her brother. He was already waiting there with an excited expression.
She just sighed and went into one of the stalls. He occupied the one next to hers and she switched their clothes with another one of the sacred arts she had learned. Thise really did come in handy!
They walked out of the bathroom, Mae with males clothing and Asher with females clothing. He was shy the first few times they swapped, but both of them were used to it now. They didn't need any major changes, seeing as they were identical twins and she just added cotton inside her shoe, under her heel to make her a few inches taller.
They walked to the training grounds at the back of the school, while gathering more and more people as they went. Some girls called out to Mae (who was dressed as Asher) and her inner voice told her to ignore them, but she needed her brother's popularity to freeload later in life, so she greeted them back and kept walking.
Her eye started to twitch when they finally reached the training ground. She hated having to acknowledge everyone and still smile! Her brother also didn't help, he was silently laughing at her from the side. He pat her back and wished her luck before she entered the enclosed area. She wanted to wack his head! Who's fault is it that she had to do this? She turned around and smiled sweetly at him and thought, "I'll get you for this." Maybe it was their twin telepathy that made him realise that he would suffer later.
She turned around to face the challenger, he was a boy their age with a sky high ego. He looked at her and sighed.
"It's such a shame that, that reputation you've been building till now will crumble under the mighty me!" The boy didn't look sorry at all and tried looking down on her, even when he was shorter.
She would personally prefer to just start fighting, but her brother's image was the most important.
"I have a record for never losing in a fight, what are you famous for? Surely it couldn't be as shallow as your parents having a lot of money? Could it?" She innocently tilted her head as if she had no clue.
He turned beet red and screamed as he attacked her with a very expensive looking sword.
"My accomplishment will be beating you! Taste my awesomeness as I slice you to oblivion with my super ultra rare water pressure sword! You will forever remember the name Easton..."
She almost burst out laughing at his name for the sword. She might be lazy and doesn't seem to care about much, but money was essential in her lazy lifestyle plan and this guy was loaded. That sword must have cost a lot. If only cultivation could be traded for money, then she could be rich. Who needed fighting, when you could just laze around all day.
There was someone still screaming in the background as she was deep in thought and moved the bare minimum to avoid all of his attacks.
But if she traded her cultivation for money, she couldn't make things float to her or teleport or control the temperature as she pleased. On the other hand, she could hire butlers to do all those things for her. Of course in the end, it would be easier to just have both. She cursed her bad luck once again, why couldn't she be born into a rich family. Now she had to use so much of her precious energy to help her brother become rich.
The screaming continued in the background and she couldn't think with it annoying her constantly. She randomly swung up her hand and hit the boy on the cheek. He flew an impressive few meters before lying silently on the ground. She turned to walk to him through the dust cloud he created and pressed the help button on his school uniform. She didn't feel like carrying him to the infirmary, but she also wasn't a terrible person. So after medical help arrived for him, she left to meet her brother once again.
He met up with her on her way to the general bathrooms. He was smiling and complimenting her on her fight. Everyone that witnessed it was drowning her in praise. She put aside her brother's image just this once and blocked out their words. She was tired after using so much of her energy and only wanted one thing. Asher smiled at his sister and knew exactly what she was thinking. He pitied the teachers that had to deal with his twin today. The more tired she is, the more difficult it is to hide her cultivation. Bye bye pens, erasers or anything else she had to hold.
