Chapter 10 - This Vampire Learns More About This Werewolf!

I looked around, it seemed as if I was in an infirmary bed. Sadly, there was no girl sleeping on the edge, waiting for me to wake up. Instead, Nero laid there—damn you God!

I shuffled around, trying to get out of these blankets that made their way around me like a maze.

Nero seemed to wake up from my sudden shuffling, "...Oh. Good morning, Kurosaki…" he said with a tired yawn.

"Yeah. Morning." I said, moving faster out of the bed. Just to get away from him.

"Look, man...I'm sorry." Nero said as he grasped my arm.

I looked over at Nero with a death glare, "Sorry, eh? Hmm, I guess it's all fine and dandy—IS THAT WHAT YOU THOUGHT I WAS GONNA SAY?!"

"...Y-yeah." Nero said with recoil in his voice.

I took my arm off of Nero's hand, "Well, sorry, my buddy-ol-pal, life isn't some sort of crappy TV show."

"I know, Kurosaki… I just wanted to say I'm sorry for clawing you in the face…"

"You should be!" I yelled, "Do you know how much that hurt?!?!"

"No...but you're the one who was talking about escaping!"

"Yeah, and?"

"Didn't I tell you before? If you try to escape, you'll be classified as the next target—whether we like it or not."

"Sounds tough. Sorry." I said, not giving a single shred of curiosity.

Nero didn't seem to get this hint, though. "One day," he started, "a friend named Laköpúh tried to escape—tried to escape from the leader of the Monster Brigade… Let's say… he isn't around today…"

"I'm guessing he didn't make it out, eh?" I said, actually feelings quite bad, and actually starting to understand why he got so mad.

"That's what everybody else thinks, but he suddenly vanished from the fight we were in. He might still be out there. Somewhere."

I put my hand on Nero's shoulder, "Look, I respect your optimism, but, it's fine to think he didn't make it."

"No. I know he did! He would never die on us—on me!"

"Okay, but don't be bitter when you find out he kicked the bucket long ag—"

"Can we stop talking about this, Kurosaki?"

"You know what, sure." I said, finally being able to get out of this cursed bed. "How long was I out for?"

"About five hours."

"...five hours? How in the living name of Hell did you fall asleep?!"

"I got tired."

I walked over to Nero and punched him on his shoulder. He let out a slight grunt. "I'm going down into the main hall," I said, walking to the door.

Nero slowly followed me as I tried to move the doorknob, but quickly found out it didn't move even an inch.

I looked over at Nero, "This your doing?"

Nero looked confused as he asked, "What do you mean?"

I pointed towards the doorknob. Nero grabbed the knob and tried to turn it but to no avail.

"What happened?!" Nero said frantically, "...nobody knows we're here…!"

"Hold up. Nobody knows we're here? Shouldn't people know I passed out?"

"They know that, yes, but they don't know exactly what room we're in…" Nero said with his face getting more and more pale.

"And whatever do you mean?"

"Mr. Scientist—as you call him—is the only one who can open doors like the ones we went through before. He's the person who can open up a portal to any door."

"So?" I asked, confused on what he was implying.

"Kurosaki. We. Are. Lost. Until. He. Wants. To. Come. Get. Us."

It took me a second before I could find out what he was saying. "...Are we in an alternate place in time-space?!"

"Basically," Nero started, "it's more of a void. He puts people there when they act bad—he lets them out, eventually."

"And since we fought, I'm guessing this is our punishment, eh…?"

"I think so, yeah."

Something came up in my head, and I had to ask, "He can come through any door, correct?"

"Yeah?" Nero said with confusion running across his face.

I looked around the infirmary room we were in, and found that there were about four doors, either leading outside, or a closet. I let out a chuckle, "Move out of my way real quick, Nero."

He did so, and I took a deep breath, trying to get focus on my blood. Once doing so, I moved some of it to my nails, making them grow longer.

"Kurosaki, what are you planning?!" Nero said, walking slowly up to me.

"Please stay out of my way, Nero." I said as I lifted my hand up about the door, then slashing downwards. But causing nothing but pain within my hand.

I let out a pained scream. The door must've been too much? What the fu—heck is wrong with my nails? They that weak?!

"I knew what you were going to do, and was trying to stop you. The door is impenetrable by anything. Hell, I think a nuclear bomb couldn't destroy it."

"One hell of a door…" I said, grasping at my hand that was still in immense pain.

"You aren't the only one that has tried to escape, remember?"

"Yeah, I know. The depressing story."

We had a good deal of silence after that statement.

I felt bad, "Sorry, didn't mean it like that."

"No, it's fine…"

"Hmm, if you say so." I said, trying not to go for the cliche depressing backgrounds. "I'll be over here, waiting."

Nero shaked his head, and walked over to a bed, laying down, then soon falling asleep.

I stayed awake, trying to get a better hold of my abilities.

Mr. Scientist never came for us, though. It's been at least four days since we've been locked in this room. Nero and I are scared that we're never gonna be able to leave.
