(Evan here: sorry if this chapter is confusing at some parts.)
"I-I'll take your offer…"
Zanya said, falling into the trap that Mr. Scientist had set.
"Great! When Kurosaki comes back from his 'day off,' your job will begin."
Mr. Scientist said, shushing Zanya out of his office.
"...Okay…"
Zanya said, moving out of his office with a slow pace.
A day passes, the day for Kurosaki to go on his day off.
"Ugh..."
Kurosaki and Nero yawned at six o'clock in the morning.
After their unexpected meeting in the hallway, Kurosaki didn't know what to say.
"Hey, um… Goodmornin'?"
"G'morning…"
Nero said, rubbing his eyes to try and wipe away the feeling of drowsiness.
Kurosaki felt a little unnerved, mostly because the time for him to leave for the day was only two hours behind.
Nero noticed Kurosaki's subtle uneasiness, and began wondering.
"What's wrong, man?"
Nero said, still in a half sleepy tone.
Kurosaki didn't give an answer for a few seconds, thinking of why he was actually stressed.
"Um...yeah. I have no clue…"
Kurosaki gave a laugh after his half thought of response.
"Uh, huh…"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Kurosaki questioned, feeling a little offended by what seemed to be Nero giving him a little bit of sarcasm. Nero didn't respond.
"Come on, man! Answer me, we're friends, right?!"
Kurosaki said, trying to pressure Nero to show some remorse for the sarcasm he gave to Kurosaki, but Nero seemed to be as hard as a rock for anything to pierce through him (not literally, of course).
As Kurosaki kept talking to Nero, who was still not responding to him, they soon found out that they were now in the cafeteria area.
But the annoying vampire didn't seem to care, and continued annoying the werewolf that could—if wanted—probably take down him at any time. But, that probably wouldn't happen, though…
"All your annoying talking sure made me hungry."
Nero said, finally talking, but not about the conversation from before.
Kurosaki got a little ticked off by that sudden change of heart.
"Bruh, you were ignoring me allll that time, and for what? Because you didn't want to admit that you were giving me serious sass!"
Kurosaki said, flailing his arms and legs all around the place, almost as if he was a toddler.
Nero was seriously starting to get visibly irritated by Kurosaki's numbness to move on from a sentence. Even so, Nero decided to play the card, and admit his mistakes.
"Fine. Yes, yes, I said, 'Uh huh' as in a sarcastic comment. But, you can't blame me."
Nope, Nero probably just started another argument.
"Well…yeah… I guess…"
Kurosaki said, admitting it in a mumble.
"Huh? I could hear you?"
Nero said, giving a smirk saying he did hear it, but just wanted to hear it again for his own pleasure.
"I said, 'I guess!' Now, let's go eat."
Kurosaki said, already moving ahead of Nero, and into the already empty line to get their own food.
They soon sat at a table, and began eating, this time, Kurosaki vowed to eat his food before it could get cold.
Just as he was thinking this, someone came up to meet them, it was Zanya, of course.
"Hey, guys."
Zanya said with a halfhearted grin, one that Nero caught onto immediately.
"What's wrong, Zanya?"
Nero said, pointing towards her mouth. Zanya then covered her mouth so that they couldn't see her expression.
"Nothing, nothing!!"
"Mhm."
Nero gave another sarcastic hum before going back to eating his food, he didn't want to become Kurosaki V.2 with his food getting cold.
"Hey, that's very mean!"
Zanya tugged onto Nero's shirt, flying him back and forth. Nero got dizzy real quick, and got even more annoyed by the action.
"Listen here, you may be my friend, but if you ever, and I mean ever, do that again, I will personally do the same to you."
(Wait, gender equality?!)
Nero said, giving Zanya a fair piece of his mind, apparently not afraid to even throw punches towards a sorta attractive female such as her.
As all of this stuff was going on, Kurosaki finished his tray of breakfast, and threw the scraps away. Probably to another monster to feed on.
As he started to head back to the table he sat at with Nero, Kurosaki realized that a man was watching him. He only knew this by a faint kind of change his blood made. (Whilst Kurosaki was in the void infirmary room with Nero, he trained his blood to warn him against dangers. But, he didn't have much time to actually perfect it, so his blood doesn't change as much as he'd like.)
Kurosaki decided to keep his cool, not wanting the person who was watching him to get suspicious. But...like Kurosaki mostly does, he screws up his act by acting a little bit more antsy than usual. 'Causing the man who was watching him to leave hastily.
""What the hell are you doing, Kurosaki?""
Zanya and Nero asked, looking at Kurosaki with a look of great displeasure.
Kurosaki clicked his tongue, and threw away his remaining food.
"Not hungry anymore."
He said, walking out of view of the two people looking directly at him.
Kurosaki walked hastily down the corridor towards the bathroom not looking behind him at all.
"I swear to effing Kami. Can't one thing not happen? It's only a few hours. Just please, please not have some maniac come after me, once again."
Kurosaki muttered to himself, getting irritated, but keeping his cool enough to not yell.
Soon, he made it to the bathrooms, and went inside the open area full of urinals, stalls, and sinks (with mirrors, of course). He splashed his face with water before looking back up at the mirror. Kurosaki saw a man behind him, getting ready to do something with his hand. Before Kurosaki could turn around, he fell to the ground, passed out.
"Where do you think Kurosaki went to?"
Zanya said, confused on why Kurosaki left so suddenly.
"He went in the way of the bathrooms. So, he had to take a leak, what else?"
Nero responded, seeming to almost laugh at his own terrible joke.
Before Zanya could get a word out, and intercom spoke out.
"Warning: Hachi Kurosaki has not been found anywhere in our radars. He suddenly disappeared, if anybody knows where Kurosaki Hachi is, please tell 'Mr. Scientist.' "
Nero and Zanya both looked up at the intercom with confused faces.
""Huh?!?""
They both exclaimed in confusion.
