Before anyone could answer my question a loud, ear piercing roar came from down the vast tunnel.
My cold heart got even colder and froze. Soon, it started pumping so hard that I had to get down on my hands and knees just to stop the loud, fast beating.
"Can someone t-tell me what in the name of sweet Jesus was that?"
"Um… the monster?" Nero said with a confused look on his face. "Have you never seen one. Where we were all born, there were monsters everywhere."
"No… I haven't…" I said, having thoughts go around in my head like a fast-moving ferris wheel. Are these guys naturally born into their monsterhoods?!
"Okay, just, follow me." Nero said, waving his arm up in the air for everybody to stay behind him.
They all complied. And I did as well. Slowly following from behind the group of people.
"We're here!" Nero called out to the group. "Let's be careful not to alarm it, let's examine it first."
Everybody shook their heads in compliance. It seemed by their faces like they were used to this kind of thing.
"Okay," Nero said, whispering through pure darkness, "get ready for a fight, okay?!"
Everybody pumped their fist in the air, silently. Then, moments later, rushed towards the enemy? Wait, wait, wait, what?!
As I stayed in the background, I saw people unleash claws, fangs, gain lots of hair, become transparent, start to eat the monster, and other crazy things my brain couldn't comprehend.
"Well, Kurosaki, are you just going to stand there," the guy who kidnapped me asked.
"Yeah? First, I don't know how to use my abilities, and secondly, I suddenly got kidnapped by you, why would I help you?!"
"Because, that." he said pointing over to the monster, I looked over there and the monster shot a… spike? over at my arm, knocking it clean off.
I yelled in terror as I looked at my bloodied arm lie on the floor.
"W- w- w- w- What?!?!?!"
The man let out a sigh of frustration, and lifted his arm out towards me. "Bite already."
I complied and bit the man's arm. My arm soon healed quickly, and I felt confident, and strong.
I looked over at the monster that shot my arm off. It was getting attacked by Nero and the group of people. But, it still shot that spike at me? That sure pisses me off!
"How do I use these abilities…?"
"Ah ha ha? You wanna know now? You sure you ain't done with your rebellious phase?"
"Shut up before I suck more blood out of you." I said with an intense look.
"Okay, Mr. Scary, focus all your energy on your hand, that will make your nails grow longer. Using your nails, you can cut through most surfaces - of course, most."
I breathed in a hard, deep breath. I felt all my blood pump throughout my body. Calmly, I tried to push more blood to my hand - more specifically, my fingertips.
My fingernails grew three times larger, and seemed more sharp.
"There you go!" the man said, clapping like it was a game to him.
I shrugged that annoying clap from behind me and lunged at that monster. Once getting to him, I slashed at its stomach area. It seemed as if it barely made a scratch.
"Kurosaki, you can't just kill it through straight brute-force. You need to actually come up with a plan." Nero said in his wolf-like form.
"Says the guy who looks like a mutated version of Lobo Wildman…"
"What was that, Kurosaki?"
"Nothing." I said as I backed away from the monster.
Nero soon came up to me, "Look, here's the plan: I distract it while you come from behind it and stab its spinal cord; and for Zanya, she will rip open the wound you make and will soon climb inside the monster, and eat it from the inside out. Then boom, monster dead."
"One: I'll try my best. Two: that seems overpowered. Three: that comment just now set off some flags, I can already tell."
"Flags?" Nero said with his wolf ears and head turning to the side.
"Nothing, nothing." I started, "But let's get ready for the plan to take action."
