[The delegation arrived.]
Kear read that on her tech pad. It was wrist mounted making it easy for her to look at. She looked at herself with a forced smile.
"It's no big deal girl. Just go in there and do your job."
She was a translator for the United Federation. The representatives of all the different countries and unions, were here today for a cease fire. This space station was next to one of the largest hospital stations in neutral territory. Since all the countries were coming here, this made it the safest place within the universe.
Right now Kear was in the restroom keeping herself calm. If she made a slight mistake it would lead straight back to war. There was no way she would let that happen.
Of course she wouldn't be the only one translating, but she would have to stand in the same area as the leaders of the United Federation. She was sweating bricks at that thought.
---
Of course she has worked in tense situations before. When the government didn't want any technology involved in an interrogation, she would be called in to translate. They wouldn't want a hacker to hear what they would learn or know this facility existed. She could fight and stand the sight of it, but she abhorred that kind of violence: torture.
She had to do it as an officer within the military, she was bred for the service. Kear wasn't born to parents or the like, she was grown in a lab. She wasn't a clone, but she never had true freedom. When this war was over, she was going to be free.
She didn't really know what that meant, but she heard stories like that. To live how you want; wake up whenever; eat the food you want; have a family; not having to hurt others.
---
Walking along the corridor towards the United Federation's area. Kear passed by different people. There weren't all humans like her. Different species lived out in this vast space. Humans probably had the most factions out of each species; about seven in total.
She had heard stories of ancient humans that lived on a planet called earth. Earth was the birthplace of humanity. Green fields of grass and trees and flowers of varying colors. She wanted to go to a planet like that and live there. It would be easy for her to communicate with others like that.
While she was thinking about her dream planet, a sudden hand grabbed her mouth. A cloth separated their hand and her mouth. She started to get dizzy, finding it difficult to fight back. She could hear two people arguing next to her as she tried to put up a fight after breaking free from their grip.
"What do you have a knife for? We need her clothes, so we cannot get blood on them."
"It's just for taking her out once we get them. Grab her and put on her clothing and hurry."
She knew they had no plans on keeping her alive. She grabbed her pin off her chest and cut into her hand. Kear wiped the blood all over her clothing. She wouldn't give them the satisfaction of letting their plan go the way they want.
"Just kill her we will go to plan b."
One of them rushed towards her. She tried to react, but she was losing consciousness fast. There wasn't anything she could do to defend herself. She was stabbed in the stomach, but that didn't mean she would let them off free. With the pin showing that she was from the United Federation in her hand, she jabbed it in the neck of the one who stabbed her. Since he showed an opening stabbing her like a rookie, she took all the advantage she could.
Both of them fell to the ground, the accomplice next to them started to run away. She couldn't let their plan work. She grabbed the knife from her stomach and threw it in that woman's back. It was the last thing she saw before everything went black.
