Chereads / The 12th Guardian / Chapter 42 - Dark Transformation

Chapter 42 - Dark Transformation

We began heading towards The Shrine of Lust as Frodimon said it was further towards the back of her. When we arrived there wasn't any shrine in sight. We began searching and found a staircase. Following it we began to head down towards what looked like a valley. With the ground covered in snow we began to see what we could only assume was the shrine. Structured a little like the previous.

Though this one you could tell was set into the edge of the shell of Frodimon, but made in a way that it seemed as though it was floating on the sea. As we entered the temple we could see the crystallization of the temple, this created a refraction in the light coming from within that gave the temple the look of a sky within itself.

"Wow this place is beautiful."

[Gixoh]

"Yeah I would never have thought such an ice baron island would turn out to have something this amazing."

[Obitiga]

"That's coming from the guy who lived on a desert island."

[Liam]

"So how does this usually work? Do you have to like to use some special Twilight power?"

[Aka]

"No, usually I just walk in and then…"

[Twilight]

"GIVE ME MORE!!!!!!"

[Rageful voice, interrupting]

"What the heck was that?"

[Aka]

"Probably the Forsaken of Lust."

[Temti]

"GIVE ME MORE!!!!!!"

[Rageful voice, as the Forsaken Lust appears]

"Yep, it's the Forsaken of Lust."

[Liam]

Seeing the Forsaken Lust we began to rush towards a small pile of snow, large enough to keep us hidden.

"How do we defeat something like that? We should get away and regroup. I don't think we are ready."

[Aka - in a panic]

"See that crystal over there, once we've been seen in a magic shrine and it activates and we can't leave."

[Obitiga]

"So you mean we have to defeat…."

[Aka]

"GIVE ME MORE!!!!!!"

[Forsaken Lust, as she interrupts]

"That!"

[Aka, pointing to Lust]

"Yep."

[Gixoh]

Jumping straight into the battle we began exchanging blows with the forsaken. The others couldn't do much damage, while my blows made more of a dent as it seems. As we fought more with the Forsaken it seems Aka recognized her.

"I don't see how this could be possible."

[Aka - In confusion]

"What?"

[Liam - landing a small blow]

"This Forsaken…it's..it's Hewa's mother, Dira. At least her spirit."

[Aka]

"How do you know that?"

[Gixoh]

"I met her once years ago, when she was setting out on a journey."

[Aka - Dodging an incoming attack]

"My father didn't talk much about her after the corruption started. I'm not sure how she ended up here."

[Aka]

"Either way, do you have any tips to defeat her?"

[Twilight - Defending himself from Dira attack]

"There's not much I know about her except don't let her element trick you, she may be set as a Darkness class but it moves fluid like water. She was nicknamed 'The Siren of Darkness' as she is both beautiful on the battlefield and off."

[Aka]

"Her class seems to be a Crusader?"

[Sirisa]

"Correct, if she's anything like me, or the other crusader classes we've encountered, you should approach the battle somewhat the same."

[Lepricus]

We then returned all our intentions back to Dira. Lepricus' advice didn't make much of a difference for any of us. As Dira's movements were more fluid than his. We began trying any tactic we could, from distractions to using the environment to our advantage. The most successful tries didn't do much, and the unsuccessful ones had us injured more than Dira.

"This isn't working."

[Temti - Trying his best to keep up in healing the team]

"Maybe it's time we try to activate that new skill."

[Twilight]

Activating his skill Dark Infusion, Twilight once again began to drench himself in a dark aura. Only something felt this different this time. The voice he had once heard began to return. Telling him not to fear the darkness within him, Twilight became overwhelmed by his own power. Passing out into a sea of darkness.

"What's happening?"

[Aka]

"It looks like that same skill Twilight used to fight Lima…but something's different this time."

[Gixoh]

Reemerging from the pool of darkness he created Twilight aura alone was not what was different. He emerged with claws, in a more lion like form, dark red eyes and a bloodlust you could feel from afar. Turning his sights on the others, they scattered, leaving nothing but Lust and him on the battlefield that was created.

"What is with that aura?"

[Aka]

"I'm not sure, the last time he used this skill it was nothing like this."

[Gixoh]

"May he have lost control?"

[Aka]

"What do you mean?"

[Temti]

"Well if the skill is too much for him, it might have taken over his spirit. Kealii once spoke of it when it came to Shiro."

[Aka]

"I wouldn't know, but if that is the case we need to help him."

[Temti - As everyone rushes back towards the battle field]

With the smoke lifting from the battlefield a defeated Lust and a blood soaked Twilight begin to appear. Unable to determine what happened the team halts. Not knowing his next move they do their best to barely make a sound. Though it doesn't last long as they hear a creak of ice below them. It seems that in the midst of the battle the ice floor of the Shrine began to crack. Letting out a howl, crouching, and beginning to growl Twilight prepared for an attack on the others.

"Is it me or does he seem like he's going to attack?"

[Liam]

"Yeah, that's an attack position if I've ever seen one."

[Lepricus]

[Twilight began to charge]

"How are we supposed to stop him without hurting him or ourselves?"

[Temti]

"I've got an idea."

[Sirisa]

Remembering what she learned from her mother and father about the Nightwalker Race, Sirisa began to explain what may be going on to the others. The plan however was not a simple one as they were now doing their best to avoid the attacks of their distraught comrade. Trying their best to handle and distract the enraged Twilight, Gixoh, Lepricus, and Obitiga gave him everything they could. While Aka, Sirisa, and Temti were busy creating a binding circle. Binding Circles aren't highly used in the world so it took them time, especially one with the capabilities needed to hold down Twilight. Eventually they were able to trap him in which the three knocked him out.
