EMILY'S POV
When I wake up Friday morning I feel better, I haven't thought about the new boy for a while. Even though, when I was at the beach last night I felt like I was being watched. I was able to shake the feeling before I went to bed and I slept soundly. To top it off today is Friday and~~ a half day at our school. The teachers had to do something after school, so we get off from school earlier, and I got to go to Lizzie's house earlier. Thinking about this I started getting ready to go to school and finished packing my bag for Lizzie's house.
Once I was ready I start walking to school, I started walking the usual route, then I took a turn and went into Nick's Bakery and Coffee Shop. I stop there every Friday and Saturday morning to get breakfast. This morning I settled for a fresh baked Berry Tart and a Hot Cocoa (I am a hot Cocoa girl all the way! I barely drink coffee and don't like the taste that much, even if the rest of my entire school is obsessed with it.) I ate as I finished walking to school. Then my phone buzzes as Lizzie starts to text me.
^Hey Girl!!^
I smile, Lizzie is always like this, even in the morning before school. ^Hey Liz^, I reply, ^What's up?^
^I just wanted to tell you that Zane is bringing a friend to hang out with us tonight.^
^What?! You know I am ok with hanging out with Zane, he's cool, but what about the other dude?^ This worries me, Zane is cool but some of his friends are popular jerks who can't stop hitting on girls to save their lives.
Liz texts me again, ^It's fine, Zane already texted him about the sleepover and the expectations.^
I relent, ^Do we know him at least?^
^Yeah, Zane says we've met him before.^
I sigh, ^Ok, I'll see you later^
Lizzie replies, ^Yup! See you Soon!!! :)^
I shake my head, this girl is crazy. Before I look up from my phone I accidentally bump into someone. I drop my books and binders so I bend down to pick them up. I start apologizing and just as I am about to reach my last book that is on the ground, another hand picks it up for me. I am in the middle of apologizing when this happens and I look up to see the person helping me. As soon as I look up I see those mesmerizing eyes and the apology that was on my tongue cuts off. We are both still kneeling on the ground and it takes me a few seconds to shake out of my trance. I quickly stand up and fight back the blush that threatens to appear on my cheeks.
"Thank you for picking up my book," I say, " I am sorry for bumping in to you it was my fault, I wasn't watching." Then I reach out timidly for my book.
He has the usual smirk on his face, almost like a *you should smack me* smirk. Then he looks at the book in his hands. The book he picked up is one of my all time favorites, it is Mark of the Dragonfly by Jaleigh Johnson, I've read it at least 6 times by now. He reads the title and the back of the book and says, "Is this the type of book you are into?"
