Chapter 17 - Chapter 16 The Beginning (15)

EMILY'S POV

Mr. Palmer looks up at the choir, and the three soloists individually before starting. This is Halloween has a bit of a longer piano intro so we have some time to collect ourselves. The song is divided into three main parts, which we have the soloists sing, that are divided by choruses. The entire advanced choir sings the very beginning and all the choruses while the soloists take care of the rest of the verses.

Meggie has the first solo with some choruses in between. Next Kristen goes and she has a split break in the middle of her solo where the choir jumps in. After she finishes I brace myself while singing the chorus with the rest of choir. Then I step up to the mic, Kristen, Bailey, Natalia, and Mr. Palmer all give ma a reassuring nod and the look on Bailey's face makes me feel calm and confident. She is my *advanced choir buddy* the person whom I sit next next to during class, on the bus, and during rehearsals/concerts. She gives me the straight truth and she gives me a nod and smile showing me she has confidence in me, this gives me confidence in myself. I stand by the mic and look at Mr. Palmer waiting for him to give me the confirmation to start.

Then he nods, I start singing. "Tender lumplings everywhere~ Life's no fun without a good scare~ That's our job, but we're not mean, inn our town of Halloween.

In this town, Don't we love it now?

Everybody's waiting for the next surprise,

Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back~ And screammm, like a banshee

Make you jump out of your skin~

This is Halloween, everybody scream,

Won't ya please make way for a very special guy~~

Our man Jack,

is King of the Pumpkin patch,

Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King now~~~"

I finish my solo and quickly step back into the choir, I make it in time to sing the final chorus and ending of the song. When we end the song, the audience goes wild, they clap and shout and when Mr. Palmer let's us leave our choir stance I turn towards Kristen and Bailey.

"Oh my gosh you did so good!" I said to Kristen.

"So did you!" She said, "That was really good Emily! You should try out for more solos."

"I'm not sure, maybe I will try for a few in the future, but you, Bailey, Meggie, Natalia, Jennette, and many others are just as good as me or better so I don't know how many I would be able to actually get." I say.

"Oh come on Emily! You did great and you know it. Stop acting so humble, I'm sure you can. I will try out for solos only if you will." Bailey adds in.

"Ok, ok. I will try for more solos, but only if you guys stop acting like this. Deal?" I ask.

"Deal" they both say in unison. Then we all burst out laughing, it's great to have choir friends that get your choir situation and you can laugh with them about it. All my other friends wouldn't understand this as much. We stop talking when Mr. Palmer starts talking, he tells us that the assembly took up all of 2nd Block so we will go straight to 3rd Block. This works fine for me because I have Choir with Mr. Palmer next and can just wait around until he tells us to move. I say good bye to Natalia and Bailey, who don't have Choir right now, and sit on the bleachers with Kristen.

The rest of the day goes by quickly.

Later that day~

I sit on my bed texting Lizzie asking how she wants me to meet up with her. We are going to meet Zane and his friend later at our spot at the beach. There is a cove we always go to, a little ways away from Lizzie, Mady, and I's personal spot. The only question is does she want to meet at her house first and, if so, do I walk there or will someone pick me up.

Lizzie texts me back and after a while we end up deciding that I will walk to her house so we can hang out for a while before heading to the beach. So I grab my overnight bag, put on shoes, and start walking to Lizzie's house. When I was a little closer than halfway to Lizzie's house, a car pulls up beside me. I turn to see who it is, but then I regret ever looking.
