Chapter 7 - The Unknown Room [Part 6]

Xiumin was waiting for his counterpart to come to the room. He was excited and he loved interacting with people. He'd be the most talkative one who would want to be everyone's friend. He's loving and caring. He is usually happy and rarely seen mad or upset. If someone mad him mad he'd be angry for a bit and be happy again. He'd learn that madness will not only make your suffer the longer you wait, you have to treat yourself well.

As the door opened Xiumin was standing instead of sitting. The girl came in looked very cute. He could feel the power of hers and was smiling at her nonstop. She smiled back at him and waited for him to instruct her on what to do.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. My name is Xiumin. My element if Frost. I know you will do well today." He said. He was so happy to the point where he forgot that he'd be the one teaching her how to use her powers once everything is settled.

Soonbok thought he'd look like another classmate instead of someone who could teach another student. Maybe the vibe he presented was a little bit too bubbly.

"Hello Xiumin, my name is Hwang Soobok." She introduced herself.

"Okay, let me introduce your task. First I'll be the one controlling everything that is happening in this room. Second the only thing I can't control is the Mirror of Reflection. Thirdly, you will have to overcome your fear. It will try to eat up your human spirit if you don't overcome it."

As he explained to her she nodded her head, she carefully took note of every little detail that might be useful. Xiumin explained a little bit too much, than he should have. If both of the leaders heard of this they'd probably yell at him or maybe give her a harder task.

Within an instance the room changed and Xiumin disappeared.

Soonbok stared at the place and it brought her back to the Hwang's Lake House. She could remember it clearly, the day when she released her powers into the world. To others it might be their happiness but it was a nightmare to her. The power she had obtained since she was a child was frost. She didn't like the summer season because of the humid air. Every time she'd go outside she'd feel sick as if she will get heat stroke. She avoid going out in the summer. She'd be weaker compared to the winter. Winter was the season that her powers were the strongest.

The Hwang family would usually hold big and small events here every year. One every season, in the summer it would be the summer festival in the lake, Fall it would be the autumn festival, the winter the Winter Ball and the Spring Festival. The only ones that she'd attend with the Winter Ball, other than that she barely left her room. All of the chaebols and them would not know that she is the daughter of the Hwangs. The only daughter they see often is the 2nd Daughter Moon Byul.

After the Winter Ball ended Moon Byul and Soobok would sneak out to the back of the Lake House and play on the ice. Although it was winter the water was not yet frozen completely. Moonbyul was the first person to reach the lake first then it was Soonbok. Soonbok studied the lake and it didn't look like it was ready to be stepped on. Her sister laughed with enjoyment.

"Come hurry let's go." She said as she put on her skating boots started to glide on the ice.

Soonbok looked at herself then at her sister. When this happened they were teenagers, but now they were fully grown adults. If they were big and tall, this meant that the ice would crack and Moonbyul would fall right through it into the cold water. Her sister didn't know how to swim and if that happened she will be held responsible for it.

"Moonbyul, let's go back before father and mother comes looking for us." She yelled back to her.

Her sister didn't respond but kept skating around the lake.

Moonbyul ignored her sister's advice and continue to enjoy the fun. Before she knew it the ice started to crack little by little. She was half way across the lake and look back at Soobok with a worried face. When she saw her expression, she clearly remembered what happened. When her sister fell through the ice, she was drowning. She ran over to her sister as the ice began to crack. Her body was filled up with anxiety and tried to reach out to her sister with her hand. They were stuck there for a 15minutes before she activated her powers. When her fingertips touched her sister's hand, her ice started to form on her skin causing her to slowly be frozen.

Soonbok carefully examined the water that was beginning to break apart. She put her hand on the ice and began to freeze it with her powers. She then ran towards her sister who was still waving for help and swallowing water. She reached out to her hand and retreated her hands back; she was scared that what if she had frozen her again.

Xiumin observed her from the other side. She looked worried and he was sure she wanted to save her but didn't know how.

"Remember it's your powers. You can summon it however you like. You have to concentrate." He explained.

Soonbok listened to his advice and reached her hand to the ice that she was standing on. She was aiming to put more force on her left hand while her other hand retrieved her sister's hand. Slowly she pulled her sister up to the surface and dragged her out of the lake area. Her hand that was holding her sister began to freeze Moonbyul's fingers. She removed her hand and put them together to lessen the power. She stared at her sister whose face was covered with crystal snow that was falling from the sky.

She was happy that she was able to save her sister and not freezing her like she did years ago. Her sister was frozen for two hours before her father came to save her. Although he undid the frost, her sister's heart was completely frozen. She never woke up since then; she was kept under the lake house with her father's powers and was not allowed to go there. Her father didn't blame her but warned her not to step a foot over there because she didn't know how dangerous her powers were. It has been more than 5 years, she always wondered if her sister was alive or dead. She'd only saw her father put her in an ice coffin and then never again she visited that place.

Xiumin clapped his hands and the scenery changed.

"You did a great job." He said.

When she heard his compliment she was happy but then sad. Why couldn't she do that back then and why now? If it wasn't for her powers she would still be living with her family.

"Your emotions, I can feel them." Xiumin said calmly.

When he activated the Mirror of Reflections, he felt her sadness. It was normal for every human to feel this way; he felt humans' emotions down in earth. He couldn't help it, that's why he gave her the advice that would probably help her.

"Don't dwell too much. Although I may not know what exactly happen, with your powers you must be able to undo what you done." He said.

Was those words true? If she could undo her powers on her sister could she wake back up? She ran up to Xiumin and bowed to him.

"Please accept me as your counterpart." She plead.

Xiumin was caught off guard. She was already accepted into the academy of course she would be taught by him. He'd help her of course.

"Welcome to EXOacademy." He said and motioned for her to get up.

"You don't need to plead to me. It makes me uncomfortable. We'll be teacher and student from now on. Whatever you need you can tell me." He said.

Soonbok looked at him with teary eyes. He must be able to help her with her sister. She must ask him.

"I really need to save someone. Can you help me with it?"

Xiumin wasn't sure what her words meant but slightly nodded.

"We can talk about that after everything is settled." He said.

Before he was going to walk out, she tugged his shirt unwilling to let go. He turned back to look at him. Tears stormed down her eyes. He panicked. Why was she crying?

"You okay?" He asked her.

She shook her head. "I really need your help."

"I can't save someone, but I know someone who can." He said to her. "But I will have to talk this to the elders, but at the same time it won't be anytime soon. You will have to not give up and train hard." He said.

"Promise me?"

Xiumin couldn't reject her at all. She was so sad and he pitied her. She was human after all and her powers were given to her without her knowledge.

"Promise."

Soonbok's eyes filled with happy tears and couldn't stop thanking him. Xiumin patted her on her head and left the room. This was an issue he had to investigate but at the same time he had to report this to Suho and Yifan first.
