Engi did not have a lot of stuff to grab as he left his cluttered room in the engine room. All of the items he owned could be placed in a military style backpack that he had been issued.
Thankfully his mana armament was a changing mechanics tool, this freed up a lot of space that would be needed. His load would be lighter than other mechanics, allowing him to move with greater speed. On his his his M4 style assault rifle sat in a holster. The rifle had been compressed to is smallest form which was only slightly larger than a large hand gun. It was awkward in the holster, but not enough so to interfere with his movements.
His goggles were currently on his forehead, but this did not prevent the communication from him and Alexander. Alexander was able to communicate while the goggles were not over his eyes, but would not be able to analyze the things that Engi was seeing. Of course, as one of the most basic kinds of Artificial Intellegence Alexander did not speak much. This would change after Engi learned more about the "Technomancy" In this world.
The concept of "Technomancy" was still weird for him, though it made a certain kind of sense. The rune formations were complicated, and getting them to interact with the cores was a process that was not only difficult but requires some luck. After some thought the entire process was involved with magic, even if the mechanic or "Technomancer" did not perform any magic.
The orcs had managed to build a society that was based on this "Technomancy". Its powerful military was completely powered by the creations. It was no wonder that even the least skilled technomancer had a position of respect in the society.
As for those capable of casting magic.. they were so rare they must hold a significant role in society. He had yet to meet an orc who could perform magic, which just showed how rare they really were.
His thoughts came to an end as he opened the door to the gym. For the next 5 days this would be his home. Thankfully the gym came equipped with a shower. Sleeping would be uncomfortable, but he could always just sleep in a corner.
Thankfully the gym was equipped with lockers, and he had long since been assigned one. The locker was barely big enough to hold his belongings, but thay was more than enough room for him. For the next 5 days he would focus entirely on improving himself, and had no time to waste on the small amount of possessions he owned.
He unfolded his assault rifle as he approached the firing range. He lowered his goggles over his eyes, but ordered Alexander not to assist, but to record his practice. When he was done with a round he would review the video, finding any weak spots in his markmanship and try to correct them. Like this he would practice everyday for the next five days.
Of course he would not be spending the entirety of his day on the firing range, he needed to not only improve his combat record, but improve the whole state of his body as well. He had been doing workouts ever since he arrived, and had recieved a small increase to his strength, agility, and endurance stats. He would need to try to improve that as well. For the next five days he would do nothing else but improve his fundamentals when it came to his body.
He smiled as he pressed down on the trigger. The familiar sound of his rifle firing sending a shiver down his spine. The only thing he loved more than working on machines was actually using them. His smile soon faded as he was drawn into his practice.
