Chapter 36 - 34 Engi: Boarly winning.

Sweat dripped into Engi's eyes as he ran. Behind him a Large boar with a drill like horn in the center of its head was chasing him. The boar was a 6th level combatant. It had mediocre intellegence but was extremely aggressive. He had been feeling confident in his recent training, he had finally managed to meet the minimum standards for an orc sharp soldier. Because of this confidence he had not brought in Alexander to the combat pod.

His mistake was obvious. The boar was physically much more powerful than he was. All of its physical stats were through the roof when compared to his. He had spend the last 15 minutes running from the beast. The boar had noticed his presence at once when he landed into the virtual world, charging before he could even get his bearings.

Engi had not wasted this time, through his keen observation he had found that the boar followed a few sets of movements. The horn on its head was truly a drill, it rotated as the boar pushed mana into it. Its movements were not agile, but it was still much faster than he was.

If he had to guess the boar weighed around 800lbs, though it lacked the flab of a domesticated pig, rather it was fairly muscular. The hair on its head resembled a poorly done mohawk. Its body was a solid tan color, and the hair on its head a dark black. The boar had incredible strength, and based on the fact that it showed no signs of being tired, even after chasing him for the last 15 minutes, it was obvious that it had a high constitution score as well.

His thoughts were interrupted as the boar rapidly approached him from behind. His only chance to escape was to dodge just before it approached. This would buy him a second at most before the chase once again began. His thoughts turned to action as he rolled out of the way. he simultaneously raises his rifle and fired several times in succession. The bullets struck the side of the beast. Each projectile hitting in a tight formation. Most of the bullets simply bounced off the flesh of the boar. Only the last of the bullets managed to pierce through the armor like flesh of the boar. The lucky projectile having struck a spot that had been previously struck.

Engi narrowed his eyes as he stared at the boar. A squeal of anger erupted from the boar, its movements become faster as it charged with a deep sense of hatred at the half orc. A look of panic briefly crossed engi's eyes before quickly disappearing.

As he ran his rifle was pointed behind him, secured between his arm and body. He did not hesitate to spray bullets at the chasing beast. Grunts of pain could be heard from behind him, but the boar rapidly approached. When he could feel the air from the spinning horn on his back he finally rolled to the side. He raised his rifle as he moved. Bullets began to fly before Engi even hit the floor. Each bullet tearing into a previously struck place on the boar.

Blood began to flow from the boar at an accelerated rate. A devious smile appeared on Engis face. The battle was not over, but in his mind he had already won. If the battle continued as it has the boar would quickly succumb to its blood loss, falling to the floor dead as it chased him.

His thoughts became reality, not even 5 minutes later the match ended and he was pronounced the winner. There was not a look of satisfaction on Engi's face, rather a look of disappointment. He had won, but only barely. His ability with a rifle was enough, but his body was too weak.

He needed to get stronger. Only by improving his strength and speed to a rank of 2 at minimum would he have any real chance in actual combat. This means he would need to adjust his training to incorporate physical fitness in a more important role.
