Ellery's POV
"If you've finished eating, leave." I said as I stood up to clear the plates.
"How can you say that with so much disrespect?" He replied "I'm your boss."
"Not right now you're not." I said a matter of fact "we're not at work and you're in my apartment, which gives me the right to do whatever I want. My house my rules."
Charles glared at me and then stood up. I stared straight back at him.
"Now, please leave. I have somewhere to be soon." I said.
"Where are you going?"
"None of your business. Now, goodbye."
"Fine." Charles said as I showed him to the door.
"Goodnight, Mr. Mercuer." I said before I slammed the door in his face.
I hadn't lie about what I said earlier. I really had somewhere to be. I have to go to a nursing home for a cello recital. Yes, I play the cello. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm such a nerd, I get it. I do an entertainment recital every few weeks at the a nursing home as a side job on weekends to make some extra cash.
I took a quick shower and by the time I got out, it was almost 7:30. I got dressed in all black, a black blouse and a pair of black dress pants. I'm not a big fan of makeup, so all I did was put on some moisturizer, a little bit of concealer, did my eyebrows, and put on a lip tint. Four minutes later and I was out of the door with my cello in hand.
It takes about 20-25 minutes to go from where I live to the nursing home. I don't enjoy being in the car driving for a long time so I try my best to find something close to home. Ever since my dad died I've picked up quite a few side jobs to help with the bills and playing the cello at nursing homes is easy money. My dad got me into playing the cello when I was little and it's something I enjoy doing ever since. I used to hate it because I couldn't read the music at first, but it got easier with more practice and patience. Playing the cello also helps me remember the times my dad and I spent together with our family.
I was used to the commute but the whole ride to the nursing home was unusually discomforting. It felt as if someone was watching me the whole time, but I brushed the thought away. I was just being paranoid.
By the time I arrived at the nursing home, it was 8:17. The show starts at 8:30, but I'd hate to show up late. I rushed through the door and into a wide room, most people had arrived already. I hastily took my seat at the front and center of the room. I set up my music stand, took the cello out of its case, and began tuning it, getting ready to play my piece.
~~~~~
By the time I was done, everyone was clapping happily. I stood up and took a bow.
"Thank you so much." I said, shyly. "Thank you."
A girl started to walk towards me, then I recognized it was Holly. It was dark in the recital room so I didn't recognize who it was at first. Holly Hogan was one of my best friends that I've had since freshman year in high school.
Holly started to run towards me and pulled me into a bear hug when she reached me. She kept squeezing me tighter and tighter, if that was possible. The girl was smaller than me, but she could easily kill me with one of her death trap bear hugs.
"Elle! I haven't seen you in forever!" Holly said jumping up and down excitedly. "I've missed you so much!"
"It's only been a week, Holly. And I've missed you too." I said, chuckling.
"You were awesome, as always." Holly commented on my performance. Even though Holly had always comes to my recital ever since high school, she never fails to complement on my performance.
"Thank you. You look lovely, as usual. I love your dress." Unlike me, Holly's clothes were always beautiful, and she had her gorgeous features to go with it. Holly can wear just about anything. If you gave the girl a trash bag, she could turn it into a wonderful couture one of a kind look. Tonight, she was wearing a straight neckline dark sapphire dress with various straps on the back. It ran smoothly to the floor, just like silk. Made to look casual and elegant at the same time. It really makes her gray eyes pop.
Holly's dad was an entrepreneur that now owns quite a few companies since he decided to expanded it. Holly's Mom on the other hand, was a famous fashion designer. That's the main reason why her family is crazy rich.
"Thanks, babe! You look really nice too." Holly said looking kind of distracted.
"What is it?" I asked looking in the direction she was looking in.
"Do you see that guy?" She asked
"Yeah."
"He's been staring at you nonstop ever since the end of the recital. Who is he? Do you know him?"
The figure was really familiar, from what I can see, he was really tall. His dirty blonde hair shown in the dim lights, a shadow was casted over his face, making him look like a handsome villain. But I couldn't really see his face since it was dark in the room, they haven't turned on the lights yet since there was still a violin and piano accompaniment after my cello recital.
From what I could tell, the guy had high cheekbones and a firm jawline with a tall nose. He smirked at me. That's when I realized why his features looked familiar. It was because I saw him not even an hour ago.
It was one other than Charles Mercuer himself.
