Charles' POV
God, I am starving. Maybe I should've prolonged the conversation a bit more so I could've had the chance to eat more before I left.
I sat in my car and dialed my mother's phone number. It rang thrice before she picked up.
"Hello, sweetie. How are you?"
"I'm fine, mom. Mom?"
"Yes, honey?"
"Annalise and I just broke up." I quickly hung up the phone before she could get the chance to yell at me.
My phone rang a second later. It was my mom. I ignored it. She called four more times before giving up.
I didn't know where I was going to go, but I knew I had to leave. I needed to get food, but where? I started driving around pointlessly before an idea came to mind.
Searching for her address on the resume Taylor had forwarded to me a week earlier, I entered Ellery's address on the GPS and drove towards it at top speed. I finally felt liberated and happy for the first time in a month.
I arrived at Ellery's place and pondered whether it was a good idea or not. I stood at her front door for a minute deciding whether I should ring the door bell or not. I stopped thinking about it and reached my hand towards the doorbell.
Ellery's POV
I drove home, feeling happy because I didn't have to see Charles until Monday. I couldn't wait to get home. Even though it was a short day, I was still exhausted.
🎶 Why you gotta be so rude?
Don't you know I'm human too
Why you gotta be so rude? 🎶
It took me a second to register the ringtone and the thought of me receiving a phone call. Even though it was an old song, it's really catchy. I reached into by purse and got my phone out to see who was calling. It was my neighbor, Ms. Jones.
"Ms. Jones, hello?"
"Elle, I found a strange man standing at your front door. He says he is waiting for you. Do you know any good looking man?"
"Who is it?" I asked. "Is it Cole?"
"No, I know who Cole is. I'm not completely senile. He said he is your boss. He's been waiting for you. Come home quickly."
"My boss?" I yelled into the phone surprised. "What is he doing there?"
"I don't know sweetie. He is quite good looking so I don't know if he'll be here when you come back." She giggled. "Come quickly."
"Alright, can you tell him that I'll be there in five minutes. I just got out of the grocery store. Thank you, Ms. Jones, I'll see you later." I hung up the phone and sped up.
What the hell is he thinking? What is he doing at my place?
What does he want?
I pulled up to our apartment building's front door and saw a red sleek Tesla and I knew it was true.
He's really here.
