Chapter 2 - The Necromancer-Part 2

After shouting his order the undead started to act aggressive. Nir pursed her lips into thin line. She was nervous, but will never show it in her face. It is her first time to battle against a necromancer. They were known to be extinct and one of the most dangerous Nephilim. The nephilims are the offspring of a human and the fallen angels who did not join Satan but rebelled against God for a different reason-Lust to humans. They are powerful beings , there are three races who reigns at the top among them- vampires, werewolves and witches. However it doesn't mean that necromancers are weaker than them, they are just fewer in numbers and they tend to live alone unlike the others who built their communities, pack or coven. Knowing this Nirian willed herself to be strong and brave, she particularly chose Max as her master because he is known to handle difficult cases of the church which will help her attain her goal faster- to be strong for revenge.

Nirians eyes are full of determination and Max noticed it. He was satisfied by his squire's reaction and grinned as he spoke.

"Fire of Zion!"

Max's voice resounded with a loud crash as a ball of fire emitted from his sword. Without regard of his surrounding he charged to the swarming undead and brandished his power like a madman. Nirian seeing the action of his master followed suit and brandished her sword releasing a fire ball. Numerous undead turned to dust instantly upon contact, the fire was no ordinary fire for it has holy attributes which can exorcise evil. Their action stunned the necromancer as he gritted his teeth in anger, for the greatest weakness of the undead is fire. The undead are dropping likes flakes. Noticing the change in the demeanor of his enemy Max taunted the necromancer.

"Why so quiet now? Aren't you surprised? Of all the possible elementals you have to encounter, you have to face the greatest enemy of the undead-Fire!'

Among the Templar Knights Order there were those who are called elementals, they are the Knights who fought on the front lines and were blessed by the elements of Zion. There are four main elements namely fire, water, air and earth. Other powers like lightning, the ability to heal, and many more can be obtain through the help of a Djinn.

The necromancer scoffed at Max's comment and smiled in a very sinister way.

"True it is the greatest enemy of the undead, but it does not change the fact that you will die here!"

The undead still continued to attack, there were many of them and every one undead cut, and there were ten to replace it. Nirian and Max continued to fight without wasted movements. They were like dancing under the moon but soon fatigued started to appear on Nir's face. She was trying to think on how to finish this, the only way she could think was to kill the one creating undead to stop the onslaught. However with the number of the undead it's a daunting task. She then heard a laugh, which caused her head to jerk towards Max's direction. She could not understand the man's attitude knowing that they were in an unfavorable situation. His master turned his head towards her.

"Nir, don't worry, that damn necromancer is on his limit. Look around you."

Nirian turned her gaze around and a pile of dust formed from the previous burnt bodies of the undead. She also noticed that there were fewer of these pitiful creatures who were crawling out of the cracks of the land created by the summoning earlier. Seeing this, she smiled and pushed herself again to the limits not willing to lower her guard down until they can eliminate the enemy in front of them.

Max's voice rang again, he released another powerful attack.

"Fire of Zion!"

The intensity of this is greater than the previous ones he released. It is in a form of a large orange dragon. The sight of it makes you tremble with its majestic appearance; it slithers around and targeted the remaining undead. Its roar shook the mountain sending tremors across the land. The ordinary citizens thought that there was an earthquake.

Nirian shook her head on this display of power. Sometimes she found her master to be a bit petty and a showoff. She relaxed her heart a bit mustering her remaining strength. She then walk to Max's side after he relinquished the dragon.

"Let's finish this Nir."

Nir nodded on his master's statement. As both of them cautiously approached the silent figure of the necromancer, a piercing shrilly laugh echoed around the clearing. It was so sinister that it could send shivers down to anyone's spine to those who hears it. A thick evil aura assaulted them.

"You thought I'd let you win that easily? If I can't win against you, there is only one way out, I'm going to bring you down with me!"

The necromancer spat angrily. Blinded by revenge and twisted belief of his lord, he decided to taint everything in blood to honor his master as his last rite. He thought that no matter what he will get his revenge against the humans and the church for all his sufferings. While chanting to release his power his long forgotten past flashed across his mind playing like a broken movie.

He was born in a normal family living in a small village in the old Europe in the thirteen hundreds though they were poor they were happy and contented. But everything crumbles when one day a group of men wearing white mantles with a big red cross as their crest, appears on their courtyard. His mother ask him to hide in his room, he could not forget the frightened face of his mother. He tried to listen intently on the conversation but he could not make out any of it, then suddenly there was shouting and a loud crash from the living room. Afraid of what's happening , he opened the door and witnessed the most heart wrenching event in his life. His father's head was smashed beyond recognition while the gentle beautiful mother he knows was battered and covered in bruise as the men in white was doing the most immoral act-raping a corpse. He called out to her in a muffled voice, his father that he thought was dead groaned and his last word was "run". He could not understand why these people was so cruel and why did they hurt his parents. The men noticed him and they stopped what they were doing. With a cruel smile plastered on their faces they tried to capture the boy. The boy felt something snapped inside him, like a broken floodgate power surge inside him. He ceased being a human; the event gave birth to a nephilim, who can control a corpse-a Necromancer. In a moment of great anger, a bloodlust unbefitting of a child emerged from him as he used both his parents' body to brutally kill the men who destroyed his family. The murder he committed and the violation of his parents' body sent him further to unrestrained hatred. From then on he only lives for vengeance.
