As the necromancer started chanting Nir and Max noticed the drop of temperature. The sinister air surrounding the clearing thickens it became palpable as if it was a living being. Goosebumps started forming in their body and deep down they know that what was to come is pure evil.
"This is bad news, Nir if anything happens try to run as fast as you can."
Max said with all seriousness, all his previous haughtiness disappeared. Nir's heart froze a little, it was her first time to see such face from her master. She did understand his meaning, if anything happens she have to inform the order at all cost or else there will be an irreparable damage. She nodded to Max, letting him know that she understands then she added something that surprised even his master.
"I can't just leave you here, I'll run with you or I'll bring you with me Master. I know you'll do the same if our position was reversed."
He smirked he could not argue with her really.
"All right, we'll get out together then."
They tried to release their power once again and pounded on the necromancer with all their might. However in just a blink of an eye there was a force so strong that hurled them out of the way. They both landed on their feet screeching in the ground.
When they lifted their heads what they saw was beyond their comprehension. The necromancer's face contorted and was now full of pus and was like a melted ice cream. Then the necromancer spoke.
"It's the end. You'll die with me. Seria lo yata sos wolo ke agos."
He murmured his last enchantment with words long forgotten by the world. The most powerful of all, the language spoken by angels-Lainon Ultion.
The malevolent aura emanated from the necromancer's body as he laughed maniacally sending waves of pure evil. The pressure was very strong grasping their whole body nailing them on their place. The animals around the forest were alerted and they flew and run for their lives, but the knight and his squire stood still holding on to their resolve.
The necromancer was pleased by his plans. He then raised his hand and said ceremoniously.
"Oh Great evil one, let thy soul be consumed by thee. Let thy wish be granted. Let the sleeping spirit rouse and cause havoc to the living. Gloriam Malignum!"
The earth quakes, the vibration on the ground increased. Max instinct kicked in and he immediately recognized that the Necromancer performed another summoning and whatever it is, it is more powerful and more sinister than the undead before. Suddenly a chorus of frenzied shrieks of the damned pierces the silence of the night. A big pale decaying hand of a demon forcefully opened a space in the air, a distortion opened between earth and hell. The wind from the rift was invading the earth, it is hot and it carries with it the stench of rotting flesh and the screaming of the damned. It reached over to the Necromancer and ripped his soul off his body. His soul which looks like a translucent figure was squirming out of the demon's grasp, but it was already too late he already sold himself. His soul was set on fire, the black flame slowly consumed his soul as he was dragged to hell screaming wildly and the rift closed, the hand and the soul of the necromancer disappeared with it.
The knight and his squire were paralyzed by what they witnessed. The presence of such evil was too great even for them. Another tremor was felt again, and they heard the frenzied screaming. It dawned on Max what is happening. The necromancer sold his soul to the devil and what is happening right now was his last deal. He frantically shouted to Nir.
"Nir be ready to fight for your life. We might not be able to get out of here alive. We must stop whatever will crawl out of that cracks and holes or else the whole city nearby will turn to hell."
Max convinced himself that they can do it, that he can go home to his pregnant wife. He looked at the young face of his squire; despite their earlier agreement he said to himself that she should at least survive this. A conviction rose in him to keep these evil creatures from going out of the forest and to protect his squire from dying. He smiled while raising his sword as he assumed his fighting stance.
"Master, let's watch each other's back. Don't just protect me, you also need to protect yourself. We are getting out of here alive."
The screaming grew louder and the two of them gripped the hilt of their sword tighter. A different type of undead are scurrying the ground. Both of them noticed the difference in an instant and they are filled with dread. Waves of undead were running to them, they were more violent and most of all they are fast.
Max attacked first and released his sword's elemental power. Nir followed him and they both roared.
"Fire of Zion!"
A smoldering fire burst from their sword burning the swarming undead around them to dust. Max again charged to the enemies swinging his sword cutting and burning the undead at the same time.
Nir was trying to hold her ground. This was her first time to battle demons in an overwhelming number; she understood that this is a battle of endurance. Her breathing was heavy as her previous battle took its toll in her body. Her sword was weighing heavily in her hands as she was hoping for this situation not to escalate further. However, she suddenly caught herself surrounded with the undead. She hacked at anything that comes near her with all her might. Multiple undead jumped onto her, she was able to defend on some of them but one was able to penetrate her defenses and slash her with its claws, she felt a searing pain as a deep gush appeared on her back. Her blood was dripping, and the smell of it, sent the undead more on frenzy as they dive into her in hordes forgetting their previous cautiousness. She tried to get a route of escape but to no avail. Max did not notice Nir's predicament for he too was surrounded with the swarming undead.
