Chapter 6 - The Beginning Part 2

In a dimly lit room there were two persons who were seriously discussing the event that happened earlier. The red bearded middle aged man known as the Sir William Reinhart the preceptor of the temple had his brows furrowed from the information presented to him. His tone was grave when he spoke his thoughts.

"Sir Klaus, do you have any idea what that necromancer was talking about?"

Klaus did not respond to the bearded man, he was trying to reign in his temper. Seeing that he did not respond the man spoke again emphasizing something they already know.

"That was unexpected for a necromancer to show up, much more under our Orders strict surveillance."

Klaus still did not respond, the bearded man sighed inwardly, he could see that the young man was agitated by something and for what it was he does not know. He knows that the situation was peculiar but he find it as something not to be worked up for since there was not enough information to work with. They could only take precautionary actions and wait for the investigation to bore more evidence, dealing with necromancers had always been tricky especially now that there was someone plotting behind the scene. However, the man in front of him definitely have a different idea, even to the experienced Preceptor, Klaus' bloodlust was stifling him.

Klaus closed his eyes and took a deep breath, in a clipped tone he replied.

"We have to let the Grand Master know Preceptor."

Another sigh escaped from the preceptor as he stood up from his black oak desk and started walking on to his window. The night sky was bright but for some reason he felt it was ominous. He spoke his thought loudly.

"What I don't understand is why that necromancer told Max that we are too late. What was his purpose coming here?"

"I have to look more on this matter Preceptor."

The preceptor turned around to face the brooding Klaus.

"You seemed really distressed, there was nothing we can do if the man offered his soul to the devil before we could interrogate him"

Klaus looked up and was a bit shocked that the preceptor noticed the fluctuations of his emotions, though he keep his face's same serious expression. He did not intend to show his agitation and frustration, he was disappointed in himself for losing control. No one knows what he was thinking exactly but he was relieved that the preceptor did not correctly guess the reason behind his reaction. There were only a few people who knows, who he really was and how he is deeply connected to this incident, but he made sure that they were under his control. He decided to go with the preceptor's idea and replied in his usual serious tone.

"I understand, well then I will leave now and let you rest, it is getting late and I also need to prepare my things. I have to leave first thing tomorrow."

Klaus faked a yawn while acting tired, noticing it, the preceptor nodded his head and smiled kindly to the young knight.

"If you need to resupply the treasury and armory is open for twenty four hours. Your room was already prepared, you know where to find it?"

Klaus only nodded again as he stood up to leave the room. Before he left he heard the Preceptor said in his caring and elderly tone.

"Good night and God speed for tomorrow."

Nir was still lying on her bed as she tried to calm down her tumultuous emotions when her stomach growled loudly. A loud familiar laughter echoed throughout the ward. When she raised her head, he saw Max at the doorway laughing without restraint, instantly her faced turned crimson. She was so ashamed with her situation that she so badly wanted to hide in a hole, but she was more ashamed with what happened earlier. She sighed and decided to speak first to break the awkwardness.

"Uhmm, Max…I'm sorry..I uhmm.."

Nir could not make the words she rehearsed earlier to come out from her mouth, as she stammered Max immediately stopped laughing as his face grew serious. She could not look him in the eye, she was reluctant to tell anyone of what happened on that cursed night.

"I should be the one to apologize Nir, as your master I won't force you to tell me the reason why you acted that way. However, I find your words earlier worrying, I hope you can trust me, especially that now it involved the safety of the whole Order."

She looked up and saw reassurance on his master's eyes, she was about to utter a word when her stomach growled again. Max could not help himself and started laughing wildly again as he inserted some barely audible words telling her that he was going to get her food. The heavy and awkward mood in the air was lifted significantly and gave off a warm feeling on Nir's heart. A shy smile appeared on her face, grateful that her master was such a good man.
