"So you're telling me that our only hope of victory lies in... defeating you?" Cyan said in a questionable tone. "Can't you just surrender? you already want to join us. "
Athens pug shook his head. "It doesn't work like that, you have to defeat me in fair combat. Just you and me. You can't even use your pack. If you can defeat me, I will become like them. I will be able to be summoned by you, and you will gain one of my skills that is usable by you. "
"So I would be able to summon you in the dungeon?"
The pug again shook his head. "Normally you would be able to, but I currently have a contract with a much stronger entity than you. That contract will not let me leave this place until the dungeon is cleared. Even if you tried it would simply he negated by the power of the contract."
"So then we need to fight. There is no avoiding it."
Burr and his brothers nodded. "Yes, we can do it in the morning. If you can defeat me I will become your 2nd subject. The first is naturally the pack, Though I will be the first to be subjugated by force. Remember you only have one shot, and I will not, rather I cannot hold back. I hope you can succeed."
Cyan nodded hearing his words. There was no need to rush it, a small delay would truly not effect anything. The weary group enjoyed their night free the stress of attack. They woke up in the morning well rested and enjoyed a breakfast of rations.
An hour later the group gathered outside the dungeon. Beka and the lack were reduced to spectators as Cyan stood 50 paces away from the three headed pug. Russ and Sir looked lazily at him, while Burr had a look of of concentration on his face.
Suddenly a fireball erupted from each of the three heads. One of the three headed straight towards him, while they other two cut off his escape from either side. The fireballs were massive, far larger than the ones released by the skeletal mage.
Cyan had no choice but to jump as he realised a bone arrow towards his prey. The pug had anticipated the move and fired 3 smaller fireballs at his position in the air. 2 of the three fireballs struck him, sending his body flying backwards as the scent of scorched fur and skin filled the air.
Burrs voiced echoed across the battlefield. "Lesson one young pup, never give a mage a chance to prepare. " Another colleynofnfireballs crashed towards Cyand location on the ground. He did not even have the chance to get up as the fireballs approached. He rolled to the side to dodge, his fur smoldering after the close dodge.
His bow lay next to him, broken in the fall. He could feel that his shoulder had been forced out of its socket. He unsteadily rose to his feet as he looked at the approached pug. Smoke could be seen rising from its three mouths.
Cyan grit his teeth as he forced his shoulder back into the socket. The pain causing him to fall to one knee. Another wave of fireballs was on him before he could adjust. and he was forced to roll again, but one of the fireballs still struck him in the chest, leaving a large smoldering burn.
Gritting his teeth he rose to his feet. as he reached behind his back. Before him the oug stood. Two of his heads had a lazy look, as if they were about to fall asleep. But Burr looked at him with a mind fully awake. He took no action on the man as he gazed on with pity.
"I truly wished to help you young King, but it appears that you are simply to weak. Years of oppression seemed to have really brought down the beast man clan."
A large fireball began to form, the three heads focusing their magic into a massive attack. One that would lead to the pugs victory. Cyan panted as he stared at the Pug, waiting for the blast as he stares at the notification in front of him. He could not help but laugh as the fireball approached.
He made no effort to dodge as his hand moved from behind his back. Three bone arrows flew forward, slashing through the incoming fireball. They were unable to stop the coming destruction, and their momentum was slowed by the massive ball of energy.
The pug looked at the three arrows that fell uselessly at his feet and sighed. he shook his head as he turned away from the inevitable corpse of the once beast king. "It is truly a pity that the Beast men have grown so weak. "
