Chapter 59 - Mistakes (4)

Denzel knew it, Shawn was still the best secretary in the world. Even though he was gone for a week, he still got information about Shaine Davis, which they discussed yesterday. After that conversation with Ivan, it still left him with unanswered questions. He wanted to call Ivan, but he'd rather meet up with him.

So, he rang his phone number. Unluckily, no one picked up—maybe he was busy, he thought.

With a stoke of luck, his phone rang, immediately answering. It was Alexandra, who was told to meet-up and have a word with him. He really had no plans that day, so he accepted. As he entered the office, he commanded Shawn to prepare the car as they would be leaving today.

He kept fiddling with his phone, until Shawn informed him that the driver would arrive in less than one hour.

"Just make sure he'll arrive before 3 PM," he said as he sat back down and continued doing his paperwork.

When Shawn left in a sudden and unknown manner, he decided to call Alexandra, who picked up seconds after the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Where did she want us want to meet?"

Alexandra sighed. "Oh, yeah. The Grand Hotel. Lunch will be your free-time, right?"

"Precisely. See you then."

The phone call ended just in time when Shawn came back holding a brown paper bag. He plopped on Denzel's desk, and with a firm voice he said, "Here. Eat."

He was tired and starving, but he refused Shawn's offer as he implied that he'll be having lunch with the CEO of Private Dawn Corporation. Shawn seemed confused for a moment, but when he explained the situation, he seemed utterly surprised.

"Then, you could drink your coffee now and eat the rest later," he said. The silence atmosphere slowly crept back again until Shawn received a phone call from the driver.

Denzel was told that the driver was downstairs, so he decided to fix himself up as Shawn left the office looking eager for today's lunch. That's what he thought until he overheard Shawn and the driver's conversation about Shawn not attending.

"Who says you're not coming? You're coming with me."

It seemed to have confused her for a bit as he reasoned-out that he was just a mere assistant. Thinking about that now, Denzel forgot that there was no secretary in the first place since he had to do all the work before, hence, he "promoted" Shawn on the spot and told him to hurry.

Thirty minutes later, thy arrived at a restaurant so grand that it might as well be one of Denzel's. Respectfully, they were escorted by male employees that lead them to a reserved table. From a far, he could already see Alexandra, who stood out from the crowd.

She wore a very "revealing" outfit, and beside her stood a woman with petite features. After the formal greetings, the secretaries were sent away, leaving the two CEOs sitting on the not-so-romantic table.

"So, what did mother say this time?"
