Chapter 65 - Mistakes (10)

Alexandra placed her index finger under Denzel's chin, lifting it up slightly as she smiled. "It's a s-e-c-r-e-t. Well, I don't mind spilling it if you really want to know."

The atmosphere around them thickened as Denzel realized that there was no arguing when it came to Alexandra. If she said it was a secret, it will be a secret, so he sighed and sat back down.

"I would like to know this peculiar secret of yours."

"Why are you so curious now?" she asked, observing Denzel's expression as much as possible. If it was not for that project, she wouldn't be teasing him.

"Oh, you made it sound like that. Please, let's just do business as always.

Alexandra's smile reached her eyes, though she did not know what was going on. It was a realization that had struck her many weeks ago. Laughter filled the air as she suddenly slammed her hands on his table, giving him a sharp glare. A bluff.

"Don't tell me, you're lovestruck."

Denzel's eyes shifted. Loveit's word with no significance to Denzel. It was nothing. For him, love was something that can break his empire apart—risking in the name of love was never a good option, and it will never be an option. His head throbbed even more as his body felt heavier. This was crazy. And it was getting crazier.

Denzel smirked as he grabbed a piece of paper from a stack. "See this?" Alexandra stared at the paper then to Denzel.

"In this era of business," he crumpled the paper and let it fall on the table, "Being in love can break you."

Cold air touched Alexandra's skin as a chill went down to her spine—she was not even sure if the chills were caused by the room or by Denzel himself. She knew part of the truth; Denzel might be lovestruck by the young maiden. As she spoke, he might be slowly breaking apart by refusing to see the truth.

Alexandra moved back to grab her big bag, pulling out a brown envelope. "Here is all the information I gathered. Frankly, I find your secretary 'mysterious'."

"What?"

"I would suggest firing her in this case. Gosh, I did not know you were this ignorant." Her ton was serious and deceitful as well as her eyes that promised danger.

Denzel gulped. "You do realize that I can't work with a secretary."

"I'll give you one—no, three weeks to make up your mind."

Women in this industry were ruthless. Even Alexandra, who was considered merciless by some, was very surprised that such women with hidden audacious attitudes existed. It just proved more of her theories—one would be that Denzel was too young at the moment.

"Hey, why do you all want me away from my secretary?"

Alexandra's eyes widened. This situation was getting out of hand. She lowered her head and pondered; there was more people aware of that person.

"I could just get you tens—no—hundreds and thousands if you'd like."

Denzel jerked up from his seat, slamming his hands on the table. "How exactly? What are you planning? Is this one of your tricks again?" Menace covered his eyes as a dark aura covered him, filling up the office and engulfing Alexandra's.

"I don't understand this sh*t!" he exclaimed.

Alexandra's heart pounded. "Calm down, Denzel."

"Are you saying he's threatening?"

"Yes. His presence alone is."
