I took the dress back to my room and hung it up in my closet. 'I wonder what my friends will think when they see me in this.' suddenly an image of Rex appeared in my mind.'I should call him and see how he is doing on his game. I switched on my phone and pulled up his number but before I could hit send a random number called and i hit answer before I had a chance to hit anything else.
"Addy we need to meet now, come outside" and they hung up. I looked out my window and saw a car sitting in the driveway. I couldn't recognize the voice neither could I recognize the car. My parents told me not to meet strangers nor get in their cars,but something told me it was important so I went downstairs and stepped outside. As I closed the door of the house I heard the cars door open and a man stepped out and came straight to me.
"Hey I am Mr. Jerome I have a unique offer for you we want you to serve on a mission that requires your abilities." I was visibly confused as he spoke as I had no idea what this man could have possibly meant I didn't have any unique abilities.
"I'm sorry Mr. Jerome I have no idea what you mean. I'm 16 and have no abilities that would be of any use to you." I replied though the system apparently had other ideas as the alarm sounded in my head and the panel appeared in front of me. 'Jerome offers The Player a quest do you want to accept?' I wasn't expecting the system to urge me to do this. "Hey what exactly do you need me to do?" Resigning myself as the system seemed to want me to do this. I accepted the quest without speaking again.
"We aren't exactly sure what you can do but we found a trace of a strange energy source coming from you and need to know if something happened to you recently." He stated and stated me down. 'WARNING ANY ATTEMPT TO REVEAL INFORMATION ABOUT SYSTEM WILL RESULT IN DEATH OF THE PLAYER' an emergency panel sounded in my head. 'Quest details: Lie to Mr. Jerome and escape. Rewards 150 xp 7 Stat points and random box reward.
"What kind of energy is it? I haven't done anything strange ever so obviously it doesn't come from me." I stated sounding serious hoping against hope that he wasn't going to question me further.
"Well if you think of anything call immediately please" He said and handed me a business card then he turned around and got back into the car and left. 'Congratulations Quest complete!' followed shortly after I went back inside. I rushed straight to my room and collected the rewards. *Beep* rang the alarm
'Congradulations you have Levled up' read the panel in front of me as a box appeared on my bedroom floor. 'Stats'

'So they all increase by 1 point per level.' 'That's awesome now what about the random box reward what could it be?' As I reached this part the box opened and a book rose out of it. *Beep* sound the now familiar alarm and the panel opened in front of the book 'Book of Skills and abilities. As you level and increase certain stats new parts of the book will open allowing you to learn new things to improve The Player.'
Immediately I tried to open the book and see what it would offer but it remained firmly shut. *Beep* 'No new skills or abilities available so the book will not open yet.' the panel that just appeared explained why it wasn't opening yet. 'Damn guess I will just have to wait for a little while then.' In games skills made the difference between life and death so she thought the same would apply to this new system as well. 'Just going to have to level up for now I guess. Now to figure out what I can do to level up though. Guess I should put my available stat points in huh? Let's put 1 in strength 2 in agility, dexterity, and perception.'
*Beep* 'Is this how you would like to distribute your available SP?' This time a panel appeared and I immediately accepted it. 'Stats confirmed' immediately flashed up then disappeared again. I then laid down and waited as the days strange activities were hopefully done with.
"Addy come downstairs Rex is here to see you!" mom called from the bottom of the stairs.
"On my way!" I answered back, 'I wonder what he wants to talk about to come here in person.' I walked slowly down the stairs and saw rex sitting on the couch talking to my dad and joking with him they both seemed to get along rather well. As soon as Rex saw that i had come down he jumped up and walked over to me.
"Hey what happened last night I tried to call you but your phone went to voicemail I was worried so I came to check on you." He spoke quietly and quickly as if he didn't want my parents to hear him.
"Sorry my phone died as I got home then I ate and went to sleep why?" This wasn't the first time this had happened and each time my parents asked why he was so worried about me. I had no idea though so I just went around the question.
"That game you helped me with deleted itself after you left" He replied, "When I went to play this morning it was a completely different game as if the one I got never actually existed." This grabbed everyone's attention. As he was now talking much louder the more he talked.
"How unusual what game was it?" My dad asked interested as he was a big game buff and also where I acquired most of my skills in this department.
"Code-X" Rex stated.
