Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Library

The Library's guard team headed by a Novice Mage at primary level, which was high enough standard to obtained Commander Rank in the army. Other than him, dedicated guard personnel could be seen patrolled on the Library's ground.

Other than the guard team, The Royal Library was also equipped with detection and defensive rune formations. These formations would be monitored by the guard team's leader but also can be overridden by any direct Royal Family's members during emergency. All those precautions due to the preciousness of the knowledge accumulated on the Royal Library.

Royal Palace Complex was vast. In total there were 4 separate clusters of building, Royal Castle in the center, Prince's courtyards at the North, Westwing Palace and Eastwing palace on the west and east respectively.

In between those buildings, there was man-made forest and mountainous landscape separating each of them. Basically when somebody wanted to go to library from the Castle, they would need half an hour riding a horse or an hour riding a carriage. They would need to pass those forest and mountains along the way.

After an hour riding, Bening's carriage stopped in front of the Library's front gate. A guard opened the carriage's door and Bening came down from the door. Soon, Jago followed Bening. Once the guard team saw both Jago and Bening came to the library, they opened up the library gate for them.

Jago and Bening walk to the Library's door and came inside.

"Good morning, young lords." Hank, the Library's guard captain, gave his salut to both of child.

"Morning Hank, we'll use the library for a while," Bening replied to Hank.

"Yes, young lords," Hank withdrew himself and came back to his previous post.

The Library consisted of 3 floors with the different level of security clearances. The books and scriptures was also categorized into 3 different level of importance. As of now, since Jago had not even performed his own awakening test and Bening was only a Primary Academy student. Both of them was only given a level 1 clearance which only could be used to access the first floor of the library.

Bening and Jago came inside the Library, although it was only first floor but the books collections was massive. Thousands of books could be found on the shelf. Those books grouped together based on their categories.

Other than both of them, some scholars could be seen busy-ing them self on the first floor. According to the Kingdom's rule, students of the Advanced Academy could access the first floor anytime. Students of Primary Academy were not allowed entry to the Royal Library. For professors and teachers, regardless their academy, all of them were granted entry.

Jago and Bening come inside the first floor of the Royal library. They grabbed some books for each of them and walked to the reading corner. Not much peoples read on there. They founded chairs to sit with no peoples around them. They started to open the books and read it, just like everybody else.

The second floor and third floor of the royal library was not opened to the public. Special permission was required for entry. Exception would be normally given to the main member of royal family. For the third floor, not even main royal family member would be allowed to enter. Only current King of Rivermountain allowed accessing the floor.

"Bening, tell me, what you want to talk with me in the Library?"

Bening replied, "Why? Can I talk to my little brother?" teasing smile appeared on her childish face. Then she looked around and whispered to Jago,

"To be honest, I'm little bit worry for you."

Jago replied, "Why?" with his confused eyes.

"You know that you will have to do affinity test few days from now. Currently there are only 3 rightful successors to father's throne, Big brother Anteng, Kemaki and you."

Jago replied and nodded his head, "I know."

Bening continued, "My brother Anteng has wood affinity level 7 and Kemaki has affinity level 8. Seeing their affinity level, Kemaki will have better chances than my own brother."

Jago kept silent and listened attentively.

Bening continued, "You know that Anteng and me, our mother is from Woodforest royal family. We have our own backing, but you are different. Kemaki's mother is from Riverkeep family. They definitely want to inherit the throne."

With serious face and tone which was not matching with her childish face, Bening's continued to rambling, this time with more lowered voices, "Their dukedom is the biggest and strongest in the Rivermountain. But they won't have enough strength to directly rebel or challenge our Rivermountain family hegemony, but they most likely will use the soft way using their descendant to inherit the throne."

Jago understood Bening meaning, he replied with half-jokingly, "Thanks Sis, but we're just a child. I'm only 5 years old, even you only 6 years old. There's no point of talking about such issue."

Hearing Jago's reply, Bening pouted her mouth, "I knew it difficult to talk to you. If only Anteng's affinity is higher than Kemaki's. I know that you're not interested with this throne thing."

Jago laughed and replied, "Hahahahaha, you're right Sis. I know that your Woodforest family and Kemaki's Riverkeep family educated their descendants on such issues from early on, but I am not a noble birth by mother line. I don't care such issue at all."

"It's up to you then." Bening replied with dejected face.

Jago replied, "Thanks anyway for your concern Sis." He knew that Bening reminded him for his own good. But it was true that Jago didn't have any interest to inherit the throne at all.

Both of them continued to read in silent. When the sun shined brightly and it was almost 11 o'clock, Jago and Bening decided to went out from the library. They walked to the librarian counter and returned back the books that they read.

They came out from the royal library and walked to the library front gate. Bening's horse carriage waited on their previous location. Both of them rode on the carriage and the carriage moved slowly to the prince's compound on the North of Royal Palace's complex.
