Chapter 22 - Chapter 17.1: The Second Confession

Sarah decided that she should tell her companions about Vincent's proposal. She assumed that it would go subtle, just like in middle school. But they weren't children. They were young men and women, who feel differently about miscellaneous affairs. Sarah called an emergency meeting at the SPOT for the first time. The four girls assembled outside the library, and Pauline asked, "Wow Sarah! You announced an emergency meeting! I did not see that coming." Sarah was fidgeting with her hands and struggled to find the right words. Mavis and Olivia kept their hands on her shoulders and said, "Don't worry, we're your friends." Pauline agreed and added, "You know you can trust us." After a long moment of silence, Sarah blurted out, "Vincent proposed!" The three of them gasped, and their eyes widened. Mavis got irritated and said, "Great! I don't believe this! I knew that this would happen! What are you going to do? Accept it?" The three of them glared at Sarah, expecting an answer. Sarah stammered, "Maybe? I don't know. I-- Umm... It's complicated." Olivia raised her eyebrow and asked in anger and curiosity, "How on earth is this complicated? You still like Aiden, not Vincent, right?" Sarah didn't have an answer. After a few moments, Pauline blurted out, "Oh my goodness! It's a freaking love triangle! I am warning you that this fiasco will not end well for any of us." Olivia stepped towards Sarah and responded, "I'm glad you told us. I know it wasn't easy. Speaking of confessions, I have one too." Mavis and Pauline exchanged glances, waiting for Olivia to confess the reason behind her behavior. Olivia continued, "I won't be here for the March break. I will be traveling to Toronto." Mavis asked innocently, "Oh! Like a family vacation?" Olivia gave her the cold shoulder and walked away. Sarah asked, "What's up with her?" Then Mavis and Pauline shared the details of Olivia's encounter with Samar in the field.

The following week flew by and then came the March break!
