Once Janet and Val left, I went back to the table and sat down on the stool. Rather I jumped up on the stool. Who thought it was a good idea to have such high stools anyway? I looked around and realized that this is one of the few tables with high stools. The other tables are shorter with smaller stools. It seems Val chose this table since this table is designed for taller people.
I felt like I never looked around myself. I never noticed these things. I didn't notice the people around me. All my life I have just focussed on survival. I looked around and noticed how most people here are quite tall. I couldn't find anyone as short as me. All the men and women I could see seemed quite tall. I wasn't standing next to them but I could tell that they were taller.
They also looked healthier and had toned and muscular bodies. A lot of men seemed to be warriors as they all had large muscular bodies and most had some kind of warrior weapons. Others were smaller and seemed to scouts or archers. At Least half women seemed to be warriors as well and they all looked tall with toned bodies. The other half were probably of professions such as archer, scouts or even magicians. I didn't know how to tell if a person was a magician since I didn't see anything different about Janet that would tell me that she was a magician.
The one mistake I had made during my first quest was not looking. So I decided to look at everything. Notice everything. Understand everything. I continued surveying the guild. There were 3 sections in the guild. The sitting area where adventures gather to mingle, eat, drink and relax until they are ready to go on a quest. The second area was where I did my registration. There were three booths where three beautiful women helped with registration, taking quests, handing out rewards etc. I imagined this is where I would go for level up as well.
The third area was not visible from here. There was a separate door that lead to it. There was an entrance from here and another from outside. While I had never been inside, I knew this since both entrances were labeled "Drop off". This is where any materials you gathers were dropped off. I imagined there was some way for them to determine the value of your material and hand the rewards to you but I didn't know how that worked yet.
I had to decide what to do next. Should I study the map in more detail? While that would help me not get lost again, I still had no defenses against any attacks. I need to learn how to defend myself. I might have been able to join a training place if I had the money but I had none. There was no one to teach me. Well then that settles it. The first order of business is to earn money. And to earn that money I had to do quests. Since I didn't know how to fight, the only thing left for me to do was find a party.
It had been almost 2 hours since I came to the guild. The guild closed at 8pm and it was around 7pm right now. I had only one hour to find a party for tomorrow. I started looking around to see if I could find any unranked adventurers. It would be better if they were actually registered but at this point I wasn't going to be that picky. After all, I would still gain experience even if my teammates were not registered. It was just that I would not be able to continue adventuring with them if they couldn't raise their levels.
