I found that most people were actually ranked adventurers. I saw that most were F and some were E ranked. I didn't see a single D rank adventurer which surprised me. Didn't that mean Janet and Val were the strongest adventurers here? Of course there could be other D ranked adventurers in the city, they were just not here at his time. They could even be on quests at this very moment.
I was starting to wonder why I was having a tough time finding an unranked adventurers. Shouldn't there be a lot of people like me who hadn't earned a rank yet? Maybe I am just here at the wrong time. If I am accepting a new quest and looking for party members, I should come here in the morning. In the evening, it looked like all the adventurers came back after finishing their quests and hung out here.
Suddenly I saw tall thin man on the other side of the room. He was studying the quest board and he seemed like he didn't know which quest to choose. They reason I noticed him of course was that I couldn't see a rank badge on his shoulder. That meant that he was unranked like me. I wondered why he was here. I came here because I wanted to figure out where I went wrong. Why did this guy come here at this time? Could it be he was actually able to finish his quest? It might be helpful if he has some quests under his belt if I create a party with him. He might already be in a party for all I knew.
I got down from the stool and started walking towards him. I stopped after coming close to him and tried to think of a way to start the conversation. I realized that while he was quite tall, he was still a bit shorter than Janet. I finally just said the only thing I could come up with.
"Hi."
The tall guy continued to look at the quest board. I cleared my throat and said again in a louder voice.
"Hello"
The tall guy still didn't look at me. I was flabbergasted. Just what's up with this guy? Is he ignoring me on purpose?
"Hey! I am talking to you!"
I said this and tapped him on the back. He got startled all of a sudden, looked back and backed away from me.
"Wh.. who.. who are you? What do you want?"
Wait, he is taller than me and his is scared of me? Do I really want this guy in my party?
"Umm.. my name is Ren. I was looking for unranked adventurers like me to join me in a party"
I spoke as calmly as I could considering I was the one who had startled him. Hopefully this will go better than the rest of my day.
"Ah huh.. What? Oh I am Turek but I am not an adventurer… I have not become one yet anyway."
