While it is somewhat interesting to watch the Sorcerers defending the Walled City against the nightly invasion of Demonic Beasts, I do have other more pressing matters to attend to.
It is not like I have all the time in the world to waste. Not at the moment, at least.
As such, once Grover has brought in more books like I have requested, I assimilate all of them and add their collective knowledges into my mind, and the accumulated knowledges that I have gained do give me great insights to many things.
Things that most people would have overlooked due to its apparent irrelevancy or lack of importance within the context of the books they are found on. This is not unusual, as people do not always realize what kind of secrets they have given away unknowingly, in their words or otherwise.
Furthermore, the mind is possibly the greatest tool that humanity has. Once trained and utilized to its fullest, it is greater than all the supercomputer in the world. It can see and connect things that are not always apparent consciously.
But of course, overtaxing the Mind is not a good thing, and I fear I might accidently awaken my Psionic Power as a result. Having Magical and Spiritual Power simultaneously already made it difficult to train and advance either of them.
Adding Psionic Power to the mix is not a good thing, but it is not necessarily a bad thing since there is always exception to the rule. Unfortunately, it is not an exception in my case.
Serene eventually returns with some refreshments, as I have suggested, and I decide to take a break, allowing my mind to have a good rest. Or as much rest as it can possibly get.
"Serene. You can retire for the night, and that is not a request," I order her. "Because tomorrow, I will require your assistance, as I decide to take a trip into town. It has been long overdue."
Serene expresses her worry. "Seventh Master. Are you sure? You have –
I raise my hand to stop her. "You only need to obey and do what I have instructed, Serene. I appreciate your concern of my wellbeing, and that is why I will allow you to escort me along with a few others for safety."
Serene takes a couple of seconds before nodding in understanding. "Yes, Seventh Master."
"And from now on, just call me Kilian. Master Kilian if you prefer," I suggest.
I like being called that way better than being called Seventh Master. For one, being called the Seventh Master is like a rank, and ranks are not always absolute. Like if something happens to Lucian either by my hands or by others, I would be called Sixth Master.
Likewise, I was not always called the Seventh Master.
"Yes, Se… Master Kilian," Serene responses and keeps me company until I finish enjoying the desserts that she had made. She is a very good cook, but sadly, the ingredients that available to her (more likely to me) are subpar.
That can be fixed with money, and there are plenty of opportunities to make money. Like leveling me up to level 12 Merchant at least. More as my wisdoms grow.
Once Serene cleans up and retires, I continue to expand my mind and knowledge until morning.
