Chapter 33 - Obtaining Runic Stigma

The second time is the charm since Jessica really does not want to spill any more blood, especially her brother's blood. She is fine after the blood loss, but she still needs to sit down and rest a bit.

I allow her to do so while filling another fountain pen with her blood essence. I also clean the knife as it will be needed soon. Heating the knife over open flames to bring it to the right temperature. "Alright, Jessica. Come here. Hurry, we have wasted a lot of time already."

Jessica comes at my request.

"I'm going to carve the Restoration Runic Incantation onto your forearm," I tell her while gauging her reaction. "It will be incredibly painful, but no matter what, you must keep your arm steady. Since you only have two arms, we will only get two chance at it. I am hoping for success the first one."

Jessica clenches her hands tightly. "Is there no other way?"

"There are, but the chance of success is much lower than this way," I answer simply. "It is really up to you, Jessica, but you should decide quickly since your brother will not be able to hold on any longer."

"Then do it," Jessica responses and unbuttons her shirt, removing it and then tossing it aside to show me her forearm. And a lot more than that. Seriously!?

I stare at her along with Alex and the others. "Okay. You did not need to remove your shirt for this, as you can just roll up your sleeve, you know? I did say your forearm, not your chest or something."

Jessica becomes embarrassed, as she must have misheard me somehow. "Then can I put my shirt back on? It is a bit chilly here."

"Sure," I chuckle and prepare a wooden gag. "Here, bite down on this."

Jessica opens her mouth and accepts the gag. She bites down on it hard, readying herself as I prepare the knife and pen. It would have been better if I have proper tools, but this is fine too. I have actually done it so many times already that I can considered to be a pro.

Once the knife touches her skin and penetrates it, Jessica winces in pain. From her expression, she has expected it to be more painful, and she is not wrong. The pain is not from the knife itself, but from the blood essence binding to her skin.

Therefore, as soon as the blood essence is deposit, Jessica screams out. Her body trembles at the pain, the excruciating pain. Even so, she keeps her arm as steady as possible, allowing me to work without delay.

I can understand how Thomas and Jessica manages to survive the Death Zone now. Their willpower is incredible. Thomas manages to keep himself from transforming for almost a full day while his sister is enduring some of the most painful experience ever.

Obtaining a Blood Runic Stigma is not something a teenager should be able to endure, yet she is doing that right now. Sure, I can just knock her out and do it while she is out cold, but I must have overlooked that. Honest.

By the time I am done, Jessica is unconscious. She passes out from the pain, and while she does, I have a look at my work. The Blood Runic Stigma is perfect, as it glows brilliantly and ominously. It captures everyone attention. "So, who else want to have Runic Stigma on their body? It allows you to cast magic much faster and more efficient."
