"Senior Cadman, I must go now. Please send everyone back to their homes and ensure they will not speak of this until Lord Valen makes his statement." Wren said, then without waiting for his response, a thin layer of smoke appeared around Wren's body and she disappeared as well. "Well shit!" Cadman said to himself as he turned to face the others.
(Mini flashback) * "Cole, we need to hurry and complete the mission. We really don't have-" "GET DOWN!" Cole yelled and Serena did her best to comply, but she then felt a sharp pain in her shoulder that let her know she wasn't quick enough to evade the attack. Serena scrunched her face in pain, but didnt make a sound as she lay in the soft dirt underneath her body. She put her hand up to stop Cole from coming to her, "We need to get to cover-" before she could continue, more arrows were fired in their direction, narrowly missing their already tired and beaten bodies. "Serena go to Ravi. I'll get Rian." There was a lack of cover for them in this area, so they had to stay low to the dirt in order to not get hit. The trees and brush were scarce and what was still standing, were tattered and withering with the change of seasons.
Serena took a breath in, pushed the locator button that was clipped on her belt, then teleported to Ravi's position. Cole shook his head, and looked over to the direction where Rian was. 'Why is this happening?,' Cole thought to himself as he quickly teleported to the tree where Rian was hiding. "Rian?" Cole heard a groan, just behind a small shrub; he stayed as low to the ground as he could while getting closer. "I got hit, just a flesh wound, but there was some sort of poison on it." Rian was holding his hand on his now exposed calf where the arrow had struck. Cole noticed Rian was already slightly trembling, 'Fast acting poison,' The attackers were still firing arrows in their general direction and they could hear they were making their way closer, Cole sighed, "Are you able to get to Serena and Ravi by yourself?" Rian was pale, his breathing was labored, but he managed a weak nod.
Before they could say anything else, they heard as well as felt, slow and heavy sounds and movement coming their way. Each time there was a noise it was seemingly shaking the ground as it progressed forward, both Cole and Rian looked at each other in shock, then carefully poked their heads out from hiding to see what was coming their way. They were stunned when they saw what was really making those noises, "No friggin way!" Rian whispered, Cole shook his head, "We need to alert Lord Valen, they must have been planning this for years if they managed to get their hands on...*sigh* Will you sketch this as anatomically correct as you can?" Cole quietly asked Rian, and without answering, Rian quickly pulled out a small notebook and pencil and began sketching at a very high speed, which most people were not able too do. After no more than 30 seconds, Rian completed the almost lifelike sketch of what they saw and they both teleported out of the area.*
The wounded Lightening members that were out on the mission began to appear in Sir Shoyo's medical office. Vivi had appeared with a now unconscious Rian and immediately began assessing the amount of wounds on his body. Next to appear were Serena and Cole, both of them did not have near as serious wounds, so Sir Shoyo called Amber in to help clean and dress their wounds while he focused on Ravi. "Vivi, I'm not sure what kind, but it seems some of their arrows had poison on the tip. Rian was first to get hit and he was sweating and trembling no more than 5 minutes after being hit." Cole said matter of factly as he somewhat forcefully sat Serena down on the chair and pulled her shirt over to examine her wound. Amber was patiently waiting near Cole, with basic dressing in hand. She was still learning medical knowledge, so she normally only assisted with minor wounds. "I'm sure he was hit more than once, I took a graze to the shoulder and now my arm is numb, all the way down to my fingers." Serena looked down and tried to flex her fingers but made little progress. "One more thing, the smell was...different, it had an almost rotten kind of smell. I managed to get an arrow but it seems the poison was corrupted because of the dirt and it also leaked through this material." Cole fished into his pocket and pulled out an arrow head that was wrapped in a dirty grey cloth, which turned out to be the bottom hem of his shirt that was now slightly exposing his torso.
Michael and Ravi appeared next, and since he knew where everything was, Michael began applying disinfectant and ointment to Ravi's wounds. The medical room was now filled with the sound of metal tools, grunts and groans of pain, and occasional chatter; whereas just minutes before there was almost complete silence and only Sir Shoyo was present. A small cloud of smoke appeared near then window in the silhouette of a woman, then came into focus, "Madame Priestess, while I appreciate your attendance, you should not be teleporting so frequently. especially not in the Shadow state. It can cause more damage to your-" Wren sighed loudly, "While I APPRECIATE your COMMENTS, I'm here to provide assistance as a member of the medical team, so stop lecturing me and let me help our Guard Members." Wrens voice was strong and determined, Sir Shoyo smile slightly and pointed over to Vivi who was still tending to Rian. Wren nodded and quickly walked over to help.
Sir Shoyo had quickly patched up Cole's hand, arm, and shoulder, while Amber was cleaning Serena's shoulder wound. After he was done, Sir Shoyo looked at her shoulder and finished dressing it. Michael finished dressing the wounds in Ravi's back, hand, and calf, and was asking him for details on what happened. "Sir Shoyo, has Lord Valen-" "Have I what?" Everyone in the room froze for a moment when they heard Lord Valen's deep voice. Everyone showed their signs of respect, whether it be a slight bow, a head nod, or a salute; Ravi then continued speaking. "I was just about to ask if you had been contacted about the incident. They ambushed us right before we were leaving, we did all we could to make it out even with this low amount of wounds." Lord Valen looked over at everyone and when he saw Rian lying on the bed and Vivi and Wren tending to him, Lord Valen quickly made his way over without responding to Ravi. "Lord Valen, he's only has superficial wounds, but the deepest one, here on his leg, was covered in some type of poison. It looks to me like someone managed to-" 'Do not continue here Wren. You're right about the make up of the poison. We will meet with the other elders soon to discuss out next steps,' Lord Valen said to Wren within her mind, and Wren nodded.
"Miss Vivi, please run and get Rian some of the white herb powder, make it into a thin liquid and pour it over the wounds. Shoyo, keep a close monitor on his breathing and temperature, it may drop soon." Sir Shoyo and Vivi nodded and did as they were told. "Uhm, Lord Valen..." Serena bowed before him, "What kind of poison was my brother affected by?" Lord Valen looked down at Serena and put a hand on her shoulder, "I cannot say for certain without running tests, but I do know the next 2 days will be the worst of it. I will send someone with fresh clothes and dinner for you. Please make yourself at home in the room across the hall. Rian will be moved there once stable." Serena's eyes were filling with tears but she nodded and made her way to the other room. "Wren, Michael, Ravi, and Cole, I need you to accompany me to my study. Cole please assist Ravi, and Michael assist Wren in teleporting there. We are low on time and I don't want more injuries." Wren crossed her arms in annoyance but ultimately, did as she was told.
